Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother to four wonderful kids, three of whom are teenage daughters. My Husband and I have been married for 16 years and we're still counting. I hobby in voiceover, t.v. and movie extra acting. I have a knack for computers and electronics. I love puzzle games but especially word puzzles. I am self taught sewer and I like to make beautiful dresses for my daughters. I work outside of the home part-time in a customer service capacity. The company I work for has helped me grow in ways I did not know I was capable of. The skills I have learned both in work and in church compliment each other and help me be a better person, friend, teacher, and leader. I love to volunteer. I help organize a boy scout merit badge event in aviation. I also like to help out with the various aspects of our local Rose Festival. No job is too big or too small. I love the scriptures and General Conference. I also currently work with a group of cub scouts.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have been born into a home where the gospel was already present. Although, I learned the basics when I was young, my testimony solidified when I was about the same age as Joseph Smith. I gained an independant testimony of prayer. I had prayed for many things before and had seen the answer come to pass. But it wasn't until I prayed for something no-one else heard. I prayed for someone who could be my friend and was my age to move into the vacant house just a few houses down. A family did move in and I felt disappointed because the family had only boys and they liked country music and I did not. But after a year of saying nearly nothing to the young man I shared the bus stop with, my mother mentioned that she had spoken with his mother and learned we shared the EXACT same birthdate. I realized then that I had not taken this family as an answer to my prayer. I learned that indeed if I had been friendly enough to this young man he would have likely been one of my best friends and he was my age. My prayer had been answered. This in turn taught me that it is and was possible that a boy of 14 could also have gained a testimony of prayer. Thus my testimony of Joseph Smith and the holy work he restored became knowledge in my heart and my head. From that day forward I continued to develop my testimony in many other vital areas, and I practice each day to keep it strong. I love the peace, the strength, the light, the love and the values that Christ teaches and this church helps faclitate. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve in the church. The last few years I have worked with the younger Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Having three daughters before a son I wasn't sure I was really cut out to teach boys. But I really like it and its rewarding too. I love to help clean the buildings, set-up or take down after a gathering. I have helped in the library, nursery, childrens sunday school, and womens classes. I have also helped new converts and planned fun events and gatherings. Each of these have utilized my strong skills and often taught me new ones. I also love to take in a meal to someone who has had a baby, or suffered illness or death. I love to teach my children from the scriptures at home and help them learn to make hard decisions with faith and confidence.
