Hi I'm Mari

I love watching movies and eating food. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 21 years old. I am currently serving a mission for the Mormon church in New Mexico. Before my mission I worked at a frozen custard stand and went to school. I am studying Criminal Justice and hope to one day be a Juvenile Probation Officer. I love to work with kids and hope to help them stay on track for a productive life as an adult. If they are currently going down a distructive path, I want to help them to get on a better one. My passions in life are music and movies. I play the violin. I love all kinds of music from R&B to Classical. I have a mild obsession with Michael Jackson! I watch any kind of movies, but I especially love action and comedy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but still consider myself a convert. I followed and lived the teachings of the church very strictly until High School. That's when I realized that I had know idea if I was doing this for me or for my parents. Naturally I decided to try a different life style. Then President Gordan B. Hinckley died. He was the current prophet of the church. When I heard this I cried for days. Earlier that year he had given a challenge to all the world to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year. I had chosen to ignore this counsel. After his death I needed some answers. Why was I so upset over the death of a man I had never met? Why did my parents want me to go to church and seminary? Why did my brother and sister serve missions? So I took my questions to the Book of Mormon and I took that challenge to read it in a year. Before I even finished it, I knew it was true. I didn't just gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon, I also gained a testimony of Joseph Smith as a prophet, of prophets on the earth today and of the Church being the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Most importantly I gained a testimony of Christ as my Redeemer. I am a Mormon because I took the time to do my research and the end result was a confirmation from the heavens that it is true!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving a full time mission. I have decided to dedicate myself for 18 months in taking this great truth to others in the world. I want to share it, because I know that it will bless others as it has blessed me.
