Hi I'm Benjamin R.

I'm a Mormon. I'm a student at The University of Texas at Austin studying psychology.

About Me

I was born and raised in Texas. I am always trying to stay active and love to play basically any sport. I love the outdoors and this beautiful planet that God has blessed us with. I am a huge soccer and football fan and watch games an chance that I get. I am currently attending UT Austin and am majoring in psychology and minoring in philosophy. Traveling is a passion of mine; I only wish that I had more time to visit more places, but Ireland has to be my favorite foreign country that I have visited.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. I grew up with a couple of people that were members, but my immediate family never got into it. A couple of years into my college career I really felt lonely and like something was lacking in my life. I had the opportunity to go to the institute near my apartment one weekend and was welcomed in with open arms by the members. That sacrament meeting that I went to seemed to fill that hole that I felt inside me. Soon after that, I began to meet with the missionaries and began reading the Book of Mormon. Reading that book and meeting with the missionaries convinced me that this church is true. There is no mistaking the feeling that I get when I read the BoM and DC, etc. It is the feeling of joy and comfort. A feeling that only comes when you truly feel the Spirit. Joining the church was the best decision of my life. Before I joined, my life was pretty unstable. I was looking for answers in places where there were none and I was looking for happiness in places that can not provide it long-term. This church has saved me. It has completely changed me as a person. There is no word to explain the gratitude that I feel for what it has done for me. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try and participate in the church every chance that I get. In addition to going to church every Sunday, I go try and go to Family Home Evening, have regular meetings with missionaries and other members, and always try to magnify my calling and my priesthood. I have not yet begun home teaching, as I am a recent convert, but I can not wait to start serving others by providing them with the comfort and message that they need.
