Hi I'm Caleb

"O be wise; what can I say more?" (Jacob 6:12)

About Me

I come from a large family in which I am the youngest of nine children. Both of my parents were born and raised in Utah, but my experiences of growing up were much different. Before I had left home for college, I had moved from coast to coast and back again while making a few stops in between. Since that was the hand I was dealt, I never really had a place to call my hometown, so my family usually just says we're from Heaven. You'd be surprised to know how many people ask where that is. Anyway, through that experience I have come to know and love many people from many different walks of life. I love sports, and lacrosse is my sport of choice. I have chosen to defer from school and lacrosse in order to serve a two-year mission and am currently in the service of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to the people of the Villahermosa México Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was all active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While that may have been the original reason I became a Mormon, it is not why I continue to strive to be a worthy, and active member. My parents helped my siblings and I become fairly independent and think for ourselves. While I was away from home, no one ever told me I had to go to church! But I still went. I searched the words of the Book of Mormon and have come to know of the truthfulness of its words. My testimony of the Book of Mormon is something that I could never deny. The authors of the Book were true prophets with valuable teachings meant for our day, and to help us all come closer to Christ. "Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God." (Moroni 10:32)

How I live my faith

While my status as a college athlete is in itself not that incredible, there are many people--youth and parents alike--that look to me for advise in the sport of lacrosse as well as life in general. Because travel in so prevalent going from game to game, I often meet with many different people that may know me in the most round about ways. I will always make time for the people in need. While school, sport, and work kept me generally busy, I made time to serve in my church and community. I am far from perfect, but I know the goodness of the power of the Holy Ghost, and use this scripture to influence my actions each day: "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." (Hebrews 6:4-6)
