Hi I'm Thaddeus

I'm a student, I'm a Democrat, I'm a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 19 year old student who is preparing to serve a full time mission. I participated in the Boy Scout program and reached the rank of Eagle Scout. In high school, I participated in spring musicals and in the school marching and jazz bands. I played the bari sax. Music is the best. So much more can be expressed through music than language or any other medium. I also enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons and Magic with my friends. I was a Mormon Dwarven Cleric in our campaign. I enjoyed participating in my school's Odyssey of the Mind engineering team. I love music and I love to learn. Books on philosophy and world religions are my favorite. I am a Mormon democrat and have worked for local and national democratic campaigns. I believe that we should work together to help one another at all levels of our community. I feel blessed to have had so many opportunities to grow and build lasting friendships with so many of my spiritual brothers and sisters during my life. I have two younger brothers who are my best friends. My father is a retired army doctor and I have had the opportunity to move around the country. Serving with my church and boy scout troop has aided me in realizing the love our Heavenly Father has for all of us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to pursue truth in all things. I believe in the divine potential of all of our Heavenly Father's children. I believe we have been given the capacity to make incredible change in our lives and the lives of others with our Heavenly Father's gift of agency. I have seen the desire for truth grow in my life as a result of this gospel. The gospel has taught me how to deal with and clear up all of the confusion that arises in my life. I know that there is a purpose for life on this Earth, and I know that love and truth are the most real and most precious aspects of our lives. This gospel can bring peace into our lives. I bear witness to the peace it has brought to my mine. I look forward to the future and cherish the time I spend with those around me as we grow and progress together.

How I live my faith

I enjoyed the opportunity to serve as the secretary for our ward's Bishop. I met with the members of our congregation and set up meetings for anyone who needed to meet with him. Every Sunday we would meet 3 hours before the start of our regular church services and discuss the needs of those in the ward, and how we can use our talents and the talents of our members to better serve those in need. Since I served in a student ward at my university, I sent thousands of texts and made hundreds of telephone calls to the individuals of the ward when coordinating with the bishop's schedule. I have loved every opportunity I have had to participate in service projects with my ward and scout troop. I also am serving as a full time missionary iArgentina Mendoza Mission. While waiting for my visa, I was able to serve 6 weeks in the California Roseville Mission. I love these people. I also live my faith by loving everyone I meet. Everyone is a child of our Heavenly Father. This means that everyone has incredible potential for good in this life and the life to come. Also, it means that they are our spiritual brothers and sisters. We are here to learn. Everyone has been given different talents/abilities/circumstances/race/personalities/everything so that we can exist here together to learn how to love one another despite and rather because of all of those differences, and work together to make life better for one another by using those differences and each comparitive advantage they bring.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I believe there is a living prophet today. I also believe that we as humans do not know everything. I know that there is much that the lord has yet to reveal. Our Heavenly Father uses Prophets to reveal new truths as we are ready to receive them. Modern revelation supersedes old revelation. This aspect of the gospel strengthens my testimony. It is clear that the world of today is quite different from the past. As we grow and become prepared to receive more truths, the Lord will reveal them to us. Matthew 7:6 "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you into pieces." The Lord is the same yesterday, today, and forever. It makes sense that if God really called prophets in the past, he would do the same today. He loves all of his children, no matter what time period in which they happen to be born. Show more Show less
