Hi I'm Daniel

I love sports, cooking and dancing like an idiot and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Daniel Drake. I am the third child out of 4. My siblings and I are extremly close which made growing up a lot of fun. I was born in California, but I've lived for the past 13 years in Olathe, KS. I am currently serving a mission for the church in the Texas Hosuton South Mission. Before the mission. I spent 1 year in college. I attended BYU and was lucky enough to experience, first hand, the magical senior year of Jimmer Freddette. At BYU, I studied biology which I plan on returning to upon completing my mission. I realy enjoy sports. Playing or watching. They are both fantastic. Baseball especially. I love music. I wish I was talented so I could play it or sing it but I'm not. Luckily my friends are, so on late college nights I'm able to chill out to the sounds of Zach Collier and the introduction. I'm a very laid back person. I strongly dislike taking things too seriously. I feel life is meant to be enjoyed, not stressed. I love crazy random adventures with friends or mission companions, they bring a good spice to life. I love the hispanic people. I'm trying to learn more Spanish so I can hang out with them more.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the faith but my real conversion came through my experiences growing up in the church. Growing up in Kansas, there wasn't a huge mormon population. Most of my friends didn't belong to the same faith as I did or shared many of the same beliefs that I had. A lot of friends would question why I would do and not do certain things such as drinking or smoking. One of the big things I noticed growing up was the difference in a home that had this gospel as opposed to those that did not. Some of my friends came from familes that didn't really have much of a relationship one with another. The members of the house hold were more like roomates than a family. You could deffinatley feel a lack of love and caring one for another. Although these families were filled with great people, they never seemed to have a sense of purpose of where they were going as a family. They love and the peace that I felt in my home was a huge blessing. My parents were a huge exapmle of living the gospel. It was easy to see that the gospel brings happiness to the home and makes us stronger in our family.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday. In high school it was by living the standards and then answering questions from my friends during the lunch period. Now, I live my faith by serving as a full time missionary in the Texas Houston South Mission. Everyday is filled with walking or biking up the busy streets of Houston or laid back streets of Port Lavaca, and purposfully talking with all that I see to invite them to learn and see how the church can help them in their lives. I had out pass a long cards, pamphlets and dvds. I also make mormon.org profiles.
