Hi I'm Emily

I grew up in the mountains of Idaho. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love spending time with my family! We like to go camping, hiking, and especially 4-wheeling. I also have a love for snowboarding and volleyball. At college I am studying Early Childhood/Special Education. I love learning and helping the children that I work with overcome obstacles and see their success. I am currently taking a year and a half break from college to serve a full time mission in Taiwan.

Why I am a Mormon

You may think that I am a Mormon because my parents are. I'm grateful for their example and the things they have taught me but I continue being a Mormon because I have found out for myself that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is true and was revealed through the prophet Joseph Smith. I'm a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. When I read from its pages I can find answers to any questions or problems that I have. I have also seen in my life that when I apply the principles it teaches I am happier. I know the purpose of my life and know my identity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by remembering that I have chosen to follow Christ throughout the week and not just on Sundays only. Every day there are many opportunities to serve others whether it is taking cookies to the neighbors, volunteering at an elementary school, or visiting some of the women in our church organization and sharing a short spiritual message with them and finding out if there's anything I can help with. Jesus Christ's life is a perfect example of service and love for others. I am very far from perfect, but can definitely testify that happiness comes from serving others. I have also served with different groups in our church. When I was in high school all the youth would meet every week and often have service projects. As I moved to college, I had opportunities to teach classes at church and also teach youth during week long youth conferences. As I continue to look for opportunities to serve they keep coming :)
