Hi I'm Ronnie Otis

I'm a Father of two wonderful little girls. I'm Sealed to my perfect match. I know that this gospel is meant for me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Ronnie. I grew up right here in NYC. Thinking back it was pretty difficult gorwing up here. My parents split up when I was just entering my teenage years. My mom or dad really were not there for me. I lived with my grand parents through my teenage years. My grandfather taught me to be the man that I am today. I went through a bit of a rough patch after high school. I was seperated from the military before completing boot camp and when I came home I walked around with a chip on my shoulder. I got pretty sick and my father kicked me out because he couldnt afford to be sick. I then went through a pretty humbling experience. I live with my mother in a room with her boy friend for a few months while attending college. It really woke me up and made me see the things that really mattered. It made me curious as to what this life was really for. I met my wife while working a part time job in the mall. I found out she was a member of the LDS Church, but she hadn't been attending. I told her i would go with her so she would not be alone. From there, the rest is history. I had a rough patch but I was able to right my ship, recieve the blessing of the Priesthood and go to the temple to be sealed to my wife and two daughters.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young, growing up, my father was obsessed with aliens, conspiracy theories, the end of the world and lot of other things that get the mind going in many different directions. Growing up as a Catholic, I went through the motions. I attended religion classes at night to prepare for my first communion and confirmation in the Catholic Church. I always had a lot of questions that went unanswered. After recieving confirmation, church was not something that was though of being involved in for my family or myself. But there were always lingering thoughts as to the creation, and why we are here and what will happen after. I was a huge science geek in high school, but not once did I ever believe that there was not direct divine intervention when it came to human creation. A few years had gone by, and i met my would be wife. I found she was a member of the LDS Church and that she had not been attending for her own personal reasons. We started going to church. I became close with the missionaries and they started to teach me the lessons, and the spirit was felt for the first time. It was amazing. The missionaries challenged me to be baptized. After being baptized though, i fell away. I had not realized what an amazing life changing decision i had made, and i was not prepared for the task. I waivered for some time. But after a really rough patch in my life I spoke to someone, and he challenged me to see my bishop. After meeting with him for some time and a lot of hard work, i had repented and recieved forgiveness. It was a feeling i had never felt before. For the first time i had gained a real testimony of the gospel. I recieved the Priesthood and was Sealed with my family in the temple. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He alone atoned for our sins and reclaimed us from the fall of Adam. Joseph Smith is a prophet and restored the Gospel in it's fullness to the Earth. The Book Of Mormon is true. We have a living Prophet on the Earth today and forever.

How I live my faith

I have had the wonderful blessing of serving in a couple of different callings in the LDS Church. I was able to serve teaching the younger boys in the church for a couple of years. We did Boy Scouts with them and other activities. We help them to find their own testimonies and develop them. We also helped to prepare them for a 2 year mission which is a wonderful blessing and opportunity for a young man. These days i am serving with the men in my ward. We try to help strengthen and uplift them as they are an essential part of the church. We organize the ministering, welfare and teaching of families in our area of the church. We also teach eachother the doctrines of the Savior and other prophets who served in the church. It is a great blessing to be able to serve in this capacity. The most important call though is as a Husband and Father. The Lord expects me to lead and preside in righteousness, which is an amazing high bar that the Savior sets for us. Though he knows that we are not perfect, he expects us to try our best to be the best possible men we can be, but we must always strive to be better. Every day is a challenge, but i know it is not one that i can win because i have the Holy Ghost as my companion always. I tey my best to teach my children the ways of the Lord. And sometimes when i forget they remind me of the things i need to be doing. We make sure to pray day and night and to always be thankful for all that we have. We sacrifice for the Lord with a smile on our faces, even if it means cleaning the bathrooms at church. I live my faith the best way I can, with love in my heart and a smile on my face, because the Savior wears my stripes on his back, and for that i am eternally endebted to him.
