Hi I'm Hillary

I'm the 5th of 6 kids, sports enthusiast, a lover of Disney movies, and a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Orange County, California going to the beach and Disneyland with my family. I grew up playing all kinds of sports - basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball... basically anything my parents would let me. I love to be active and outdoors. In high school I was very involved in ASB, Drama, and various clubs and won the Ms. Vanguard award (given to one girl in each graduating class). I went to BYU to study History and PE in the hopes of someday becoming a High School teacher and coach. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Philippines and I loved it! I am confident that that is where the Lord wanted me to serve, and I learned so much from the beautiful Filipino people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is true. I have grown up reading the Book of Mormon and attending LDS Church services and I always just felt a sense of belonging there. It was in my teenage years that I read the Book of Mormon for myself, prayed to know if it was true, and received a confirming witness of its truthfulness and ability to help me in my life. Since then, I have continued to receive more and more confirmation and an increase to my testimony each time I ask for it. Life hasn't been easy, and I have gotten a few curve balls in my life that I was not expecting, but it is amazing to look back and realize how much the gospel was able to not only get me through those trials but turn those trials into crucibles. I came out of each one a stronger person in so many different ways. The trials stretched me, but the gospel filled in the gaps and strengthened the "fibers." That is what keeps me drawn to it. I need it. I want it. The peace and sweet nectar of joy is something that I don't wish to live without. It provides a purpose to my life and a sense of belonging and identity. I know who I am, where I am going, and what is ahead for me. And for that I am eternally grateful.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by waking up each day with a prayer, inviting the Lord into my plans and my life. I really believe that He can give us the help and comfort we need in every aspect of our life. He is as much a part of my life as I allow Him to be. And with that prayer of faith, I try to learn from every opportunity and see the many ways that He has and continues to bless me. I know that He has a plan for me, and through my prayer, study of the scriptures and following the Holy Ghost, I know that I can follow that plan designed to make me the most happy.
