Hi I'm Shauna

I grew up in Utah. I have lived in California, Texas, Minnesota, and Virginia. I am grateful to have been a Mormon my whole life.

About Me

I have been an elementary school teacher for overe 25 years. Many times parents would ask me what makes me different for other teachers. I am always happy and treat the children just a little different. It was wonderful to let them know that I see these children as Heavenly Father's gift to us as parents. I have been blessed with three children of my own and one step-daughter. My husband is an accountant and has worked for the US government his whole career. We have had the opportunity to travel to several South American countries. This has only helped us all increase our gratitude for living in our Heavenly Father's promised land. Two of our children have graduated from BYU, our son is currently at BYU-Idaho, and our youngest is ready to enter high school. We are so grateful for the teachings of the church to guide and direct our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life. As I child, I went to church because that's what our family did on Sunday. I was taught the gospel by my parents and teachers and I grew to love the way it made me feel and the way it taught me to conduct my life. I learned the importance of honesty, integrity, service, and acceptance. A desire to be like Jesus grew. As a young adult, I studied and prayed to gain my own understanding of the truthfulness of the gospel. Little by little, my testimony grew. I have leaned on my testimony and love of my Savior my whole life, especially in times that have seemed so overwhelming to me. That is when I really have come to know my Savior and his deep love for me and all of Heavenly Father's children. And now, I don't know what I would do without the gospel in my life to lead and guide me, to help me find answers to life's questions, and to comfort me when life is difficult.

How I live my faith

Each day I try to be an example of our Savior and his teachings. I began serving in the church as the primary pianist when I was just a teenager. From there, I have had many opportunities to serve in primary as a teacher, presidency member and Primary president. It is wonderful to see the small children learn to love our Heavenly Father. I have also spent many years in the Young Women's program as a teacher and Young Women's President. This program is truly an inspired program, teaching our young women that they are truly daughters of our Heavenly Father and that he loves each one of them. Recently, I have had several opportunities to serve in Relief Society (an organization for women 18 years and older) as a counselor in the presidency. This program, too, is an organization, sanctioned by our Heavenly Father, to help the women of the church strengthen homes and families, serve others, and increase their faith in Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. But most importantly, I have the opportunity each day to teach my own children of the gospel. It is such a blessing to see them grow in the gospel, and gain their own testimony of its truthfulness.
