Hi I'm Kathy Nashif

I'm a Mormon. I am 63 years old and a convert to the church. I was a dancer and met my husband coaching gymnastics.

About Me

My husband and I just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. We are both converts to the church. We have two boys - two daughter in laws and five beautiful grandchildren. I love to make jewelry, sew and make greeting cards. I danced for 30 years and taught for 18 years. I love to Zumba!

Why I am a Mormon

I felt I was missing something in the church I had belonged to. They couldn't answer any questions that I had. The lady I took dancing from and then taught for was Mormon. We traveled to California to take some guest lessons there and on the way back she talked about the church. The spirit bore witness to me and was so strong that I couldn't wait to learn more and get baptized. It is the best thing I have ever done. My husband then joined and we raised our two sons in the church. I can't imagine living without the knowledge and peace this gospel brings. It is truly Heavenly Father's church.

How I live my faith

This year in our ward we are "Experiencing the Book of Mormon". This has helped me take to heart the passages I read so that I have precepts to live by. I feel close to my Heavenly Father and communicate to him through prayer daily. My husband and I are two of very few members in our family. I love knowing that we can teach by Christ like example to those in our families and do the work for our ancestors who have passed on before us that were not members.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Kathy Nashif
We believe that Heavenly Father has given us all that we have. It is our responsibility and privilege to help all of Heavenly Father's children regardless of their faith. Service is a huge part of the ministry of this church. We believe in following the example of Jesus Christ who loved and helped all. Show more Show less

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Kathy Nashif
Jesus Christ set the example of proper baptism by emersion symbolic of our sinful life and rebirth into a clean, spiritual life. At baptism we make covenants with our Heavenly Father to be obedient to the commandments and to help one another. Children aren't baptized until the age of 8 - the age of accountability when they can choose for themselves having the maturity and knowledge of right and wrong. Show more Show less
