Hi I'm Brodi

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 27 year old husband and father going to medical school to become a surgeon. I grew up here in Iowa when my dad went to school here in the late 80s. After high school I went on a mission for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Paris, France where I met with people everyday day and taught about Jesus Christ and his divine role in our salvation. After finishing my 2 year mission I went to school at BYU-Idaho to earn a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I married my high school sweet heart my freshman year and have since graduated moving back to Des Moines where I am currently attending school at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. My freshman year here my wife gave birth to our now 2 year old son. I enjoy video games (Call of Duty MW3, Starcraft II...), fly fishing, shooting sports, as well as table top wargames and board games.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm LDS because I have have a personal conviction that the Book of Mormon is an inspired scripture from God. I read the Book and found it to be another testament that Jesus is the Christ. It reinforces my faith in him and helps me to live a better life. I often fall short of the ideal characteristics that Christ embodies but I know through his atonement I can still return to live with him and my family after death.

How I live my faith

In our ward (the building we meet in) I teach the Elder's Quorum Lesson every 3rd Sunday of the month. This gives me an opportunity to share my personal experiences with my class. The Elder's Quorum is a group of priesthood holders in the church ranging in age from 18 to almost dead ;-) the class is great fun as we all share our unique understanding of life and how we can use the atonement of Christ and his gift of the priesthood to enrich the lives of those around us. The best part is that it's a brotherhood where we come together as friends and support each other for better or worse.
