Hi I'm Lillian

I was born in Norway. I am a wife, mother, grandmother. I like to read, do genealogy, travel, work on the computer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Norway & when I was 6 months old, my parents immigrated to America. My father felt that his girls would have a better opportunity in the church gospel wise, church activity wise & finding someone to marry in the Temple, in the US. They did make a sacrifice because they both loved their home country Norway & I will forever be grateful to them for their sacrifice. As a youth, I enjoyed reading, watching TV, going to the movies, picnics with my family & in the summer we would attend concerts in the park. I also enjoyed going with my parents to their Norwegian friend's homes & listen to them talk about the old days back in Norway & their reminising. As a teenager, I started attending the youth dances which is where I met my present husband. At first I could not stand him, & he knew it, but he was a good dancer so during the dances he would ask everyone but me & with time eventually asked me & a budding romance started to bloom. After graduating from high school, I found a job working for AT&T in the Steno Pool. My husband to be was in the military & asked me to marry him on his next Christmas leave, I accepted, & we wed in the Oakland Temple. During the course of our marriage, we had 2 daughters, a son, & one last daughter. Our oldest daughter was taken to her heavenly home due to a car accident which profoundly affected me to the core. Plus my two other daughters each lost a daughter. Heavenly Father puts us through the refiners fire to hopefully refine us!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born under the covenenat, meaning my parents were sealed in the Temple & I was born a member of the church, but even that being the case, one still needs to find their own testimony of the Gospel because one cannot thrive on a borrowed testimony. I cannot say that at any one point I felt I was converted to the Gospel but my conversion came step by step. There would be times when I would be sitting in one of our church meetings, that I would have this overwhelming tingling warm feeling that the Gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Gospel of Jesus Christ & that He has given us the Gospel as an instrument to find our way back to Him & our Heavenly home & destination. I want to say to anyone reading this that we as LDS do not profess to be perfect but our aim is to strive for perfection step by step & through Christ's atonement, He will help us achieve our highest potential providing we allow Him into our lives & allow him to help us put off the natural man & become perfected in Him. I know that Christ, God the Father & the Holy Ghost are real & are three separate distinct Beings. If they were not, then how could Christ be born & walk among men in the New Testament & still pray to His Father in Heaven? Was He praying to Himself? NO! He was praying to God the Father (Elohim), 3 separate personages, 3rd being the Holy Ghost. I also know that Jesus Christ and God the Father appeared to Joseph Smith when he prayed in the grove to know which church to join & was told to join none of them & that he would be an instrument in restoring Christ's Gopspel back on the earth, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Heaven is a place of order & just as we in our families have rules & guidelines for our children so does Heavenly Father have only one way for His children to come back to Him. All religions have a part of the truth but this Gospel adds the fullness of the truth in all it's glory, this I testify in the name of Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

I try to live as I should but falter many times. Not in big obvious ways but as we all do in one form or another, struggle with issues such as: not wanting to be revengeful when wronged, to have patience with our chilren & other family members, to be charitable, to use ones time wisely & I could go on & on but if we are striving continually to be & do better, Heavenly Father will pick up the slack. I have been a ward, children's & women's organization music director, a nursery leader (ages 18 mo to 3 yrs), taught Primary age children (3-12) about the Gospel, taught young women's age groups (12-15) about the Gospel, President of our local Children’s Organization overseeing 5 Districts for 3 years, holding meetings to encourage & instruct each district president of organizational policies, current teaching curriculum & children’s programs, Secretary of local Women’s and Children's Organization in charge of recording attendance, took staff meeting notes, responsible for information getting from staff to the women & teachers as a whole and served as a teacher's training instructor. I have also served in our local Temple where you can leave your troubles & worries at the door & seek for guidance & direction in your life & answers to problems.
