Hi I'm Matt

I play water polo. I'm going to study film. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently serving a full-time mission in British Columbia, Canada. I was an avid water polo player before coming out on my mission and I enjoyed creating short films in my spare time. After my mission I'm planning on going to college and studying film. I'm also a huge fan of the outdoors I enjoy going mountain biking and backpacking.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church. My family goes back to the pioneers who settled in Utah. For most my life it was more tradition for me personally until my highschool years when I started to really understand how the LDS church really does have the full truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom on the earth today and that Joseph Smith saw what he said he saw, that he saw our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer, and that Thomas S. Monson is called of God as prophet, seer and revelator.

How I live my faith

At this time in my life I am serving in the church as a full-time missionary in the Canada Vancouver Mission I will serve for two years at which time I'll return home to Salt Lake City. As a missionary I serve the people in my area and teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ. A missionary's purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ through faith in Him and His atonement, repentance , baptism, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end. I know that the message we share is true and I find joy in spreading the gospel.

What is the First Vision?

Matt
Joseph Smith was around 14 years old and at that time there were many different sects of religion. Joseph was searching for the true church out of the many churches near his home, and one day while reading in the bible he came across James 1:5 where it says "if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God." Joseph followed the advice of this scripture and one day went to a grove of trees near his home and began to pray. That day as young Joseph prayed he saw a pillar of light exactly over his head and it was above the brightness of the sun, and it descended gradually until it fell upon him. When the light rested upon him he saw two personages standing above him in the air, one of them spoke to him calling him by name and said pointing to the other "This is My Beloved Son here Him." Joseph Smith saw our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ, and Jesus answered his prayer and told him not to join any of the churches. This vision was the beginning of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
