Hi I'm Whitney

I served a mission in Hawaii. I love art, good movies, spending time with family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy the out doors and the beauty that surrounds us. Exploring is such a fun thing to do! I love canyons and scuba diving and visiting other countries. I did a study abroad to Italy to study art and wish I could go back. I served an 18 month mission to Hawaii and loved it. It's been amazing to learn about so many different cultures and religions. Not to mention being in such a beautiful place for that amount of time.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the LDS Church because it makes sense logically and I've received an answer spiritually. This is the only church that I know of that follows the organization Christ established when he was on the earth. It's the only one with a prophet and evidence, the Book of Mormon, we can read, ponder, and pray to God to know if this is His Church

How I live my faith

I try to live in a way that would please my Savior and my Heavenly Father. I know they give us commandments to help and protect us and help us to be happy. Just as our earthly parents and teachers give us rules and tasks to accomplish. I enjoy the opportunity members of the church have to be visiting teachers-or to visit specific people in our area- This really helps us to be able to meet the needs and struggles of our fellow brothers and sisters. It's very important that we all have a support system besides our immediate family.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Whitney
Temples are sacred places, rather than secret. They are Houses dedicated to the Lord. While temples are not open to the public, everyone who prepares may enter the temple. Preparation to enter a temple includes gaining faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism with proper authority, receiving the holy ghost, and continuing in life with commitment to promises made to God. One must be found worthy to enter the Lord's house, as they were anciently. This is to show that the proper respect and commitment to the promises being made will be kept sacred. To learn more about temples one may attend a open house, before a temple is dedicated, to tour the rooms of the temple. Or visit a Visitor Center near a temple to learn more about the sacred ceremonies that are held inside a temple. Ceremonies such as: baptism for the deceased, sealings (marriages for time AND eternity), endowments ( gift of higher knowledge linked with higher promises). I had the wonderful opportunity to serve at a temple Visitor Center in Hawaii. I loved being able to show pictures of these beautiful rooms and explain why they are so sacred and important. The goal of a Visitor Center is to share more about Temples and answer questions you may have about them or any other topic you would like to know more about concerning The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm grateful for Temples and the work that is being done inside them. I am grateful for a God that holds his children to high standards. Show more Show less
