Hi I'm Marcelino

I'm a happy husband and father of five, entrepreneur, trainer, consultant, blogger, Mexican, crossfit athlete, blogger, & Mormon!

About Me

I am a happy husband and father of five children. I moved to the U.S. when I was 16 and dreamed of going to BYU. I graduated from BYU (undergraduate and graduate degrees) after marrying and with two kids. I have always wanted to be more of a full-time dad so I started my own company and now I spend much more time with my family. I blog about fatherhood (mormonfathers.blogspot.com) and love to help young fathers and learn from other fathers how to be a better dad. Professionally I help large organizations manage the human side of change. I love what I do because I apply many gospel principles to business challenges. I enjoy the world of leadership, people, and business. I enjoy good music and exercising. I am a runner, a crossfitter and enjoy the challenge of a good race. As a family we love to travel. We have traveled extensively throughout the US and Mexico. We like to travel by car because it's a great time to bond as a family. We also enjoy camping but when we stay in a hotel, we really enjoy it!!

Why I am a Mormon

Having been born into an LDS family I have always known that this is where I belong. However, I haven't always known that I knew that! During my teenage years I questioned my faith. This period of doubt lasted into my missionary service when I had to learn the hard way what my convictions really were. I am a Mormon because I have received a spiritual confirmation that 1) the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fullness in these last days, 2) that the Book of Mormon is a book of scripture just like the Bible, and 3) that we have living prophets just like in Bible times. I am a Mormon because the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ provides me with the knowledge, sacred ordinances, and guidance to give me peace and happiness in this life and hope of eternal life in the life to come.

How I live my faith

I strive to be the best husband and father I can be. We read the scriptures every day and try to follow the standards in "For the Strength of Youth." Because family is the highest priority for us, we spend a lot of time together. We spend the summer traveling and being together as a family. We also strive to serve others together and teach our children the value of work, service, and sacrifice. We mow other people's lawns, clean gutters, shovel snow after a storm, and visit those who need assistance. I enjoy interacting and learning from people of different religious backgrounds. I seek to know their beliefs and customs and discuss different aspects of their beliefs and life style. I share of my own beliefs freely as long as others are interested in learning. In the church, I enjoy serving in whatever capacity or assignment I am given and have particularly enjoy working with the youth. The youth have a special place in my heart and I strive to be a positive influence in the lives of youth in our local congregation (ward), in my extended family (with my nieces and nephews), and of course, most importantly, in the lives of my own children.

Why is family so important to Mormons?
