Hi I'm Chris

I grew up in Texas. I co-founded a web technology business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I received an MBA from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester. I'm very into sports, especially baseball. I grew up just 15 minutes from the Ballpark in Arlington (and its predecessor) and watched Nolan Ryan throw a no-hitter, and was there when Kenny Rogers threw his perfect game. I'm married and we have two kids that keep us quite busy. I'm passionate about entrepreneurship and get more value out of working on my own projects than in working for other people. My background is in web development technologies - and, to be honest, I'm a geek.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church, but that's not why I continue to practice the faith. After high school, I found myself questioning everything I had been taught; to the point that I questioned the very divinity of Jesus as the Son of God. A central tenet of the Mormon faith is that God will answer sincere prayers - that we need not depend on another's word for ourselves. In this moment of confusion, I read the Book of Mormon and its testimony of Jesus. I felt the peace of the Spirit come to my heart and found that my doubt was replaced with faith. As I knelt in prayer to confirm what I had felt while reading, I poured out my heart to God. He heard my prayer and spoke to my heart - telling me by His Spirit that the Book of Mormon is His word and that Jesus is His Son. God heard my prayer and spoke to me. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I work with the youth in our congregation: teaching them on Sundays, assisting with mid-week activities (Boy Scouts, Church activities, etc.), providing rides as needed, and filling in whatever capacity I can.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Chris
I grew up in a religious house and was taught of God and His love for me. But my own personal relationship with the Lord was established through reading the scriptures. When I found myself doubting everything that anyone had ever said, the written testimonies of the prophets spoke to my heart as the Spirit confirmed the truth of what I was reading. As I've tried to continue reading the scriptures, I have been able to continue to feel the influence of God in my life. I have received personal guidance as I take the time to really study the life of the Lord, to know His plan, and to try to keep His commandments. In short, I would say that reading the scriptures allows us to know who God is. And as you come to know God, you come to know how much He loves you. Show more Show less
