Hi I'm Mandie.

I'm a writer, a cancer survivor, a ridiculously enthusiastic lover of all things MUSIC!!! ...and I'm a Mormon. : )

About Me

Ever since I could hold a thick, kindergartener-sized pencil in my chubby little hand, I have known I would be a writer. I also knew, as I made up little-girl versions of pop songs & mentally choreographed dance moves while trailing behind my dad and siblings on our bike rides, that I would someday become Paula Abdul. Thankfully, I didn't, and I grew out of that phase -- at least the Paula part. Being a terrible dancer (to put it mildly) kind of put a kink in my dancing plans, but I never did quit making up songs... and now I'm a songwriter, as well. My other childhood aspirations -- veterinarian, interior decorator, and most importantly, being a wife & mother, never came true. But I still love animals, and I WILL become a wife & mother someday! And I will be a darned good one, at that! ; )

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it's TRUE! :D More specifically, I have had so many experiences that have taught me, personally, that it is real. I'm not here because someone else told me this is the true church. And it's not because it seems like a cool thing to do. (Believe me, it is not the cool thing to do in many people's eyes! lol.) I had to find out for myself by asking God to show me if it was or not, by trying it out and subsequently seeing the changes that happened in me and in all aspects of my life. GOOD changes. Happy, peaceful changes, and I definitely wanted more! And so I have learned over the years... and now I can tell you with a hundred percent conviction, no doubt whatsoever, full enthusiasm and joy, that this Mormonism stuff is only "Mormonism" because that's the world's word for our way of life... It's so much more than that, though. It's the gospel of Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my hardest every day to be like Jesus. I fail often, but the amazing thing about His gospel is that THAT'S OKAY! Not only is it okay, but it's what we're here for! I do my best to read my scriptures and pray daily, because those are the things that sustain me and help me to be happy in this crazy world. Being friendly and smiling and laughing a lot -- just enjoying life! -- is a huge part of living the gospel, and I love that. I try to use my talents to help other people know that the Church of Jesus Christ, restored in its fullness in these days, is true. I also live my faith by trying to stay humble. If I don't do it on my own, Heavenly Father helps me by throwing a few new trials my way. ; ) This is so much more than a religion to me. It's my whole life. : )
