Hi I'm Kasey

I'm a missionary. I'm a book lover. I make tortillas. I love the piano. I'm still growing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Kasey. Before my mission, I spent three years studying at Utah State University and a semester at Weber State University. Here's a secret: I'm still not positive on what I want to do. I love playing the piano and reading. Seriously, my idea of perfect would be a sunny day with a book. My favorite Book of Mormon prophet is Alma the Younger, because he was the worst of the worst, but through the Atonement of Christ was able to come back to the church and become and incredible missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always an active member in the church. My parents divorced when I was young. I was often in dangerous environments where the Spirit could never be. Because of those instances, growing up I struggled with my self-worth and began a long battle with an eating disorder. After moving into a new town for High School, I got in with the wrong group of friends. So cliche right? Along with the difficulties from my own bad choices, I chose to cope with my chemical depression by hurting the body that God gave me. After some health scares and a lot of heartache, I began to go back to church when I was in college. It was really difficult; I felt like everyone was staring at me and judging me for what I'd done. But, I read my scriptures every night and I conversed with my Heavenly Father and I felt his love and the comfort from his son, Jesus Christ, in my life. I was very lucky and found some amazing friends at USU, who really helped me reactivate. It was a long road and took a couple years before solidifying my standing in the church. Now, I can't imagine my life without it! I've never felt more beautiful and at peace with myself than when I'm active in the Church. After a decade of not knowing who I was or if anyone even cared, I know now that I have a Father who loves me in a perfect way. It was the confirmation from the Spirit that I'm a daughter of God that cemented my testimony in my soul and heart and body.

How I live my faith

Currently, I live my faith to the fullest by serving a mission. After seeing such an amazing change in my life because of the gospel, I can't help but want to share that with anyone who will listen. I try to be the best example I can of Christ-like love and kindness to everyone around me, whether they're LDS or not. I love to talk to my friends and family about the little miracles I have on a day to day basis, whether it's finding my keys, or receiving an answer to a prayer that I really need. I read my scriptures everyday, because I know that they hold every answer to every question I could have. I pray to my Heavenly Father often throughout the day, because I know he will help me. I keep my body sacred now, and don't use any harmful substances or let anyone treat as less than miraculous, because it was made by God. I openly love the Lord and his sacrifice for me. In general, I try to be someone that makes people know they are loved, not just by me, but by God.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Kasey
As a missionary, I proselyte because I love sharing this good news! We have a way back to our Father. We are responsible, as members, to share that, because some people don't know that there is happiness in this world. As a missionary, I get the joy of doing that every day. Why wouldn't I do that!
