Hi I'm Eliza

I'm a psychology student in college, I'm 20 years old, living with my family in Colorado, I adore music and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music. I have played piano for over ten years and I sing a little too. My favorite kind of music is alternative rock. I love my family and would do just about anything for them. They have been there for me and helped me through tough times. My family was effected by the recession and we learned to lean on one another for support and comfort. We've had to move a couple times and it's been nice to always have each other. My extended family has helped me decide on my college major. I am a psychology major and I want to work with dual diagnosis which is where a person has a mental disorder coupled with an addiction. I love learning about the field I want to go into. I love learning in general! I love to read and travel through time and space via books. There is nothing better than a good book. More than anything else, I look forward to having a family of my own one day to raise and grow with.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but I still love being Mormon or LDS. Being a part of this church has helped my family to overcome the trials we go through. When my dad was unemployed, we could count on the church for support. In all the times we've moved, I've always been able to count on having a ward or branch to call my new home. I love the gospel with all my heart. I know that it's true. I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and that he died for me. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and that He knows me personally. I know that I can communicate with my Father in Heaven through prayer and that I can receive inspiration and guidance by reading the scriptures. I know that the scriptures are true and that the Book of Mormon is a true book. I know that Thomas S Monson is a prophet of God and that he and his disciples love and care for each of us. I have been witness of the love they have. I know that God will not give me more than I can handle and that the trials I go through only serve as a refiner's fire to improve me and help me grow. I know that I am learning every day and that there's a new adventure waiting around every corner, I just have to find it.

How I live my faith

I have served almost every calling I can think of that's related to music as well as a teacher in Relief Society, or the women's organization. I have loved every calling I have served in. One thing that I have learned while serving in the church is that even when a calling may seem massive or overwhelming I can do it by depending on my Lord and Savior. I love serving in church with music because I think that music is a language beyond anything like English or Spanish. I know that some things are said through music that cannot be expressed in words alone and I love being able to assist that language through my talents.

What do Mormons believe about family?

In the LDS church, we consider the family one of the most important things in this life. Every class we have in church helps us to grow towards going through the temple and being sealed to our spouse for time and all eternity. When we do this, our children are sealed to us as well. One thing that is a great comfort is believing that, when family members die, we can see them again in the next life because of this sealing. This life doesn't have to be the end of those relationships we cherish and hold dear to our hearts as long as we embrace the gospel and follow the commandments laid out for us. Show more Show less
