Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a husband of 27 years and father of two. I'm a corporate ethics and compliance attorney. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, spent 16 years working and raising my family in Texas, and recently relocated to Southern California. My greatest joy in life is found in being a husband and a father. I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born of "goodly parents" (1 Nephi 1:1) and raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man of 19, I was called to serve a mission for the Church in Sapporo, Japan. Up to this time in my life, my participation in the Church had been on "auto pilot," without seriously seeking to gain a witness for myself of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My missionary experience pushed me up against my own personal wall of faith. Through fasting, prayer, deep study of the Church's teachings, and an intense study of The Book of Mormon, I gained a personal witness, borne of the Holy Ghost, that the doctrines I was teaching to the wonderful people of Japan were indeed true. Since that day I have been actively involved in the Church. Over the years my testimony has been strengthened on many occasions through many wonderful experiences and tender mercies bestowed on me and my family by a loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed to have the opportunity to serve in many callings in the Church. Each calling has strengthened my testimony and has blessed my life with lifelong friendships and wonderful associations. I have served in the young men's organization and have particularly enjoyed my service in the Boy Scout program. The Scouting program has greatly blessed my life by strengthening my relationship with my son as I have participated in Scouting activities with him. I'm now experiencing the same blessings with my daughter as I help her with her Young Women Personal Progress activities. I love sharing the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and am grateful that my son is now serving a full-time mission. I have been called as a teacher in the Church many times, and through those callings I have gained a deeper testimony and an understanding of Jesus Christ and His ministry. I love to study the Gospel and to gain deeper insights into the doctrines.
