Hi I'm Shane

I love to help out where I can. I enjoy a nice long conversation. I love to explore the beautiful world we live in. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in the Salt Lake Valley by two perfect, loving parents. Indeed one could say I was born of "goodly parents." I was taught to love God from the time I was little. I was baptized a member of the church at 8 years old, a fond memory of mine! In my teen years I faced some trials that shook my faith (as most teens do). It was at that time I decided that I needed to strengthen my testimony for my sake. I had some amazing youth leaders that were perfect for me and helped me to realize that others actually cared for me and my life. I've learned a lot about myself in the last year and half. The faith that was brought up with has helped me to keep strong in the difficulties of my first time being away from home. A little about me... I love to explore the outdoors. I've grown so much to love the Scottish landscape, one of the most beautiful in all the world. I could just sit down and talk to you for hours without running out of topics or getting bored, as conversing is one of my favorite things to do. I think that stories are a fantastic way to learn, and they are entertaining too! My favorite way to experience a story is through film. It's a fantastic way to portray the emotions associated with human life. I don't know if I could ever live my life without the belief system that I've had to reinforce me. I love the Lord with all my heart and I want to do whatever I need to do to show that love for him. And mostly that means helping his children around me. I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have been members of the church since they were little. When they were married in the Salt Lake Temple they decided to raise their children in the Gospel. I didn't always take the church seriously until I was about 17 years old. I wanted to know for myself if it was true. I always loved going to church and the wonderful friends I have in the Gospel. The love I felt as I was searching for the truth was such a huge testimony to me of the truthfullness of this Gospel. I know that Jesus Christ died for us and set the example so we know what to do to live with him again. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called by God to restore Christ's church on this earth once more. I love this Gospel with all my heart, and I love my Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I like to try to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ as close as I can. I've found several ways that really help to strengthen my faith in the Lord. When I was young, I didn't really appreciate the scriptures as much as I could have. But, as I took the time to read them through and study them, oh how I grew to love them! They are so inspired and have exactly what we need to hear these days. It's funny how things that happened to people thousands of years ago can relate so well to my everyday life. I love to pray to my Father in Heaven every day. When you understand your relationship to God, it becomes really easy to pray because you are actually talking to someone. He actually hears me!

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Shane
We most definitely do accept the Bible as the word of God. Just in the last year I have taken the opportunity to study through the New Testament. There are some amazing scriptures in there, and of course the recorded life of Jesus Christ who has done so much for mankind. I love the Bible very much for all the good that it has taught and all the wisdom that it has to offer. Show more Show less
