Hi I'm Bruce Mitchell

I'm a Mormon and a convert to the Church. I am an engineering manager in Staunton, Va.

About Me

I have written a book on how to establish manufacturing in China. I like to play golf and working on the yard. I enjoy vacations on the coast of New England. I have three grown children who are married and I have seven grand children! My favorite sport to watch is college football and I "live and die" in the fall watching my college play!

Why I am a Mormon

When I was growing up my mother used to listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Sundays. When I was in my mid 20's two sister missionaries taught me the gospel and I have been a member now for over 35 years. Reading the Book of Mormon was key to my conversion. Shortly after I had investigated the Church and became a member my Dad gained interest and he visited me for a week reading material on the gospel and reading the scriptures and he was ready for the missionaries before he left!

How I live my faith

I have served in the Church in many callings and they have all centered around serving others. Since the Church has no paid ministry there are many different positions you can be called to hold from teaching the youngest children to being more involved in the administration of the Church locally. In order to make sure the membership is cared for one calling all of the men have is called home teaching where we are assigned several families to visit periodically. The visit can be spiritual in nature or it could be to help them build something, move furniture around or even move from one place to another!
