Hi I'm Kathy

I'm an elementary school music teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been an elementary school music teacher for 19 years. I love that I get to teach little ones how to sing, play instruments, and perform musicals on stage. I also love to scrapbook with my sister, work in my flower gardens, DIY various things in my house, travel to new places and take care of my 3 pretty kitties and 1 dog.

Why I am a Mormon

Fourteen years ago I began to wonder about God--who He was, why He created the world, and what I was meant to do with my life. I had a friend who was LDS and I began to ask her questions about her religion She answered my questions and asked if the missionaries could come to teach me more. I said 'yes' and two days later the missionaries knocked on my door. I read the entire Book of Mormon in less than a week and was baptized shortly thereafter. I'm a Mormon because I received a witness that God does have a plan for me, that people have a purpose on this earth, that He has provided His son Jesus Christ to atone for our sins so that we can live with Him and our families forever.

How I live my faith

Currently I am the first counselor in the Relief Society in my ward. This is actually my first calling in Relief Society and I have jumped in head first to serving the women of my ward.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

We will often refer to Temples as 'The House of the Lord'. We believe that Temples are places where we can go to leave behind the things of the world (television, work, etc...) and physically be in a place that is so sacred and holy that God's spirit can dwell there continually. Since God's spirit is there, we need to prepare ourselves to be in His presence. This preparation includes us striving to be righteous people who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and obeying all of God's commandments. Those who enter the Temple without being prepared would not be able to understand the teachings that occur while there. It would profit them nothing and to them, the Temple would just be a regular building and not a sacred place. Inside the Temple we learn more about God's plan for us and commit to more fully obey His commandments. In addition, we provide opportunities for those who have passed on and never had the chance to learn of God and Jesus Christ to accept His gospel and to come unto Christ. Show more Show less
