Hi I'm Kendall Lee Mann

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I converted to the LDS Church in 1972 when I was 18 years old. The next year I went on a two year LDS mission to Cordoba, Argentina. After I returned from Argentina I was accepted into Brigham Young University. I am currently a high school Spanish teacher. I have served ten years in the U.S. Army. I worked twelve years in business. I am married to a wonderful daughter of our Heavenly Father and between her and I, we have ten children and twenty-two grandchildren. We also own our own small business. It is a 7.1 acre parking lot dedicated to parking big rig trucks, recreational vehicles, and boats. Our hobbies are camping, traveling, doing genealogy (family history) research, and writing. I have written and published one book called "Beware the Serpent."

Why I am a Mormon

My father always taught me to be spiritually independent-that organized religion was for the weak minded. In 1971, after graduation from high school in Texas, I moved to California to live with my Dad. I found that the two friends that I had there were into partying and drinking. This was not for me! I started to look for better company. I started dating a girl named Pam. After dating Pam for a week or two, I found out that she was a "MORMON!" "Ew! I could not date a Mormon!" I asked my step-mom about Mormons and she said: "Mormons were good people and she had some good friends that were Mormons!" "Oh, okay?" I really loved Pam's lifestyle. We had good clean fun and her friends were all genuine. After a couple of great months of dating-the big statement came! "Kendall?" "What?" "I can't marry anybody who is not a Mormon!" "What? Who said anything about marriage? I just graduated high school!" (That is what I thought) Pam introduced me to the missionaries. That was fine...I still didn't need organized religion to tell me what to do. One night while I was reading one of the pamphlets that Pam gave me, the most wonderful feeling overwhelmed me. This feeling went through my heart and all through my body. I later learned that this was the Holy Ghost telling me that these things were all true! From that moment on I got serious about an organized religion. I found that this was the true Church! I learned that Jesus Christ was my Savior! That is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

My favorite hobby is "feasting upon the words of Christ" (BofM: 2 Nephi 31:20 & 32:3). While on my mission, the first experience with personal inspiration was when I was reading these verses. The spirit so impressed them into my mind that, when possible, I "feast on the words of Christ." Having many experiences with "Saved Christians" where we exchanged our scriptural points of view on many doctrines, I learned that many non-Mormons do not pay attention to the scriptures from the Book of Mormon. So, for a period of several years I gave the LDS perspective on these doctrines using only the King James version of the Bible. In my studies I took over ninety of Joseph Smith's teachings and researched what the Bible has to say about each one. If I were to condense everything that I learned into one thing, it would be: "Although the 8th Article of Faith states...We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly...I have personally learned that...When it comes to the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Joseph Smith...the Bible is perfect!"

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Kendall Lee Mann
The Lord has held many secrets throughout the Bible, in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. This is what He has to say about these secrets and mysteries: Deuteronomy 29:29 – The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. Psalms 25:14 – The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Amos 3:7 – Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. Jesus Christ’s apostles Matthew, Mark, and Luke asked why He always spoke in parables. He answered them with this response: Luke 8:10 – And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. (Other accounts of the same conversation are in Matthew 13:11,12 and Mark 4:11,12) Not only did Jesus Christ reveal his mysteries to the apostles, He made them “the stewards of the mysteries of God.” 1 Corinthians 4:1 – Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. If a person from another Christian faith prefers to criticize the Mormons for having secrets and mysteries in our temples, they are also criticizing the Lord of the Bible…because those secrets and mysteries are His and He reveals them to His prophets and apostles.
