Hi I'm Jeff

I love the outdoors and spending time with my family. I'm a tennis player, student, and son. I love Chinese and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student who has spent the last two years in Taiwan serving others and sharing the gospel. In the process I have learned Chinese and have come to love the people of Taiwan. I am the oldest son of four and love spending time with my family. My family and I love spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, playing sports, and just being together. I love to play tennis. I played on the high school team and was privileged enough to have my brother on the team and my dad as the assistant coach. In our family we do everything together, whether it be attending each other's sporting events, piano recitals, school activities, etc. Ever since I was young, I have been interested in medicine. I was involved in a surgical technician program during high school which gave me opportunities to learn and also experience surgery in the operating room. I am a classified surgical technician and am working towards medical school and a future career as a doctor. I love learning and pushing myself to hit high goals.

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel means everything to me. Ever since I was little, I was taught to go to church. It was until later in my teenage years when I truly came to understand and know for myself the importance and truthfulness of God and of this church. I know that God is real and that He is watching over every one of us. In my life whenever I have gone through trials or hard times, I know that I can turn to my Heavenly Father through prayer and that He will hear and answer my prayers. I remember when I was twelve years old, my cousin past away. This was a time of trial for our family, but I remember specifically turning to the Lord and asking for help and understanding. I know that God answered my prayer and gave me peace, comfort, and understanding. I am grateful for this experience and believe every trial in life can help us grow and become the type of person God wants us to become. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has also helped me understand my true potential as a person. I believe that society is always trying to tell us that we are not good enough. I have come to understand that I am a child of a loving Heavenly Father and that He has a specific plan for me. There is so much happiness and comfort knowing that there is a God that exists and that if we follow his teachings we will have happiness and success in all that we do. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has helped me know that there is a purpose to our lives and that as we serve God and his children with all of our hearts, we will find true joy and satisfaction in life.

How I live my faith

I have been privileged to have the opportunity to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Taiwan for the last two years of my life. As I have been on my mission, I have learned how important it is to forget yourself and serve others. There is nothing more fulfilling than the feeling you get after you have made somebody's day or change somebody's life through the service that you render to them. In Taiwan I have had many opportunities to serve others. This service has brought so much joy. I think the most important thing about being a member of the church is doing the small and simple things like daily scripture study, daily prayer, and weekly church attendance. As I have done this, I have felt the constant presence of God in my life and had his support and guidance in my daily challenges and choices. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is such a blessing to me and I try to emulate the Savior in all that I say and do.
