Hi I'm Sasha Senger

I'm a truth-seeker. I'm a teacher. I love to cook...I love to eat. I'm a creator. I have a big smile. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a small Vermont town. I like to hike and photograph the natural world. Being outside doing anything or nothing at all is enriching; the world is so beautiful. I love to travel and have been to every state but Hawaii and Louisiana. Every place I have been is beautiful in its own way and regional cultures are most excellent. I love unique brands of soda and collect Root Beer bottles--I have over 60 different brands now! I've studied primarily New Media Design and Art Education. When I switched to teaching, I found my passion. Changing perspectives and opening minds about art drive me to learn and teach as much as I can. My younger brother has Cerebral Palsy, and that has changed my life. It gives an entirely different perspective about what's important and how to help people...all people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a part-member family. My Dad is not a member of the church, but my Mom raised us kids in the church. Growing up, I strengthened my testimony first through hymn music, then through others' spiritual experiences and stories at General Conference. The Stake Youth Activities and Young Women's were a beacon for me, a place where I could have good friends and feel the spirit. In me was laid a foundation of faith. Entering adulthood, experiences made me question church policies, and question my faith. Either the church was right and true, and I simply could not understand all things, or it was not. I prayed, and felt each time I prayed that I was not being led astray. I knew that God loves me, and this church is true. In time, my questions have been answered. I'm a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's church, and I feel through my experiences and trials, that being a member has helped me follow Christ.

How I live my faith

Currently I am serving a mission for the Lord, to invite others to come unto Him. Every day for 18 months, I am dedicating myself to help people understand that God loves them and wants them to turn their hearts and desires towards Him. He has given us Prophets who declare His word. He has given us the Book of Mormon which testifies of Christ, and helps clarify truths found in the Bible. Before my mission, I had the opportunity to lead and support activities for young adults in my area, including humanitarian and other service projects. I have also been able to teach and support women and help them build their faith. I have also had the opportunity to lead children's music programs. Perhaps most important, I feel that the best way to live my faith is through small and simple ways, such as being friendly and a friend to all I come in contact with. To smile at people as I pass them, or tell uplifting jokes or stories to those I briefly greet at work or stores. Anywhere, I have an opportunity to, in a small way, help people be a little cheerful, a little more hopeful.
