Hi I'm Ann Harvey

I'm a Mormon. I am a convert of 46 years, a mother of nine children and twenty-seven grandchildren.

About Me

I am currently serving as a Service MIssionary at the Mesa Family History Library and have had years of experience doing research on my family. It only took me 43 years to complete a Bachelor's degree with numerous breaks for raising my nine children. I did Home School for ten years and lived on a small farm with goats and chickens and various other assorted critters. I have buried two husbands and am currently caring for my daughter. I love to work in my yard and travel to visit my more distant children . I also have five great-grandchildren and teach nine year olds in Primary. My work experience includes substitute teaching and working with special needs teens.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it and received the spiritual witness that it was truly the word of God. I was not sure about Joseph Smith and thought the Mormons were rather weird but I knew the book was true and therefore I was baptized. It was a great blessing to me as my first husband died only two years after I joined the church and I could not have begun to deal with my life as a young mother with four small children to raise. The friends I had met and strength of my faith in Jesus Christ were my rock and anchor. Over the years as I have studied and prayed and applied the principles of the Gospel in my life, I have come to know more surely that this is Christ's church and He will always bless me as I call upon him and do my best to follow Him. A few short weeks before my second husband succumbed to cancer I awoke with the joyful awareness of how very blessed we both were to know this Gospel is really true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending the Temple and my weekly meetings. Serving as a Visiting Teacher to other women has helped me learn to love and appreciate how very much alike we are even with our differences. I enjoy teaching in Primary and have also taught adults. I try to show my faith by my faithfulness and the love that has come into my life by serving my family and others. Doing my family history research has helped me feel a strong connection to the men and women who preceded me and helped to shape my life today.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Ann Harvey
We do not worship Joseph Smith the Prophet. We worship God our Eternal Father and the risen Lord Jesus Christ. We respect and appreciate the sacrifice Joseph Smith made to bring forth the Book of Mormon and establish God's kingdom on the earth. The faith and faithfulness which Joseph Smith showed with his life are an inspiration to us and the fact that he gave his life in this endeavor makes him an exceptional man. Show more Show less
