Hi I'm Alan

I just graduated college. I love the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love anything I can do with my hands and be outside. Working on cars, rock climbing, snowboarding, and wakeboarding are my biggest hobbies. My most recent hobby has been photography which fits well with all of my other interests. I just graduated from college with my B.S. in Chemistry. I want to continue my college in grad school, hopefully in the next couple years. I want to get my Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, focusing on instrumentation design. As far as my personality, I love to people watch, and be quiet and listen. Some of my favorite quotes come from President Gordon. B. Hinckley, Tecumseh, and Marrianne Williamson.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me Mormon, but that isn't why I decided to stay in the gospel. In my first couple years of college, I stopped going to church because I had moved away and it was a different environment. I began to struggle with school and keeping everything in line. I wasn't nearly as happy as I had been. I realized that what I was missing was the gospel and all of the people that surround you and lift you up in the church. Its that feeling and the knowledge and faith of my future that has made me stay a member of the church. When I'm at church, the Temple, or even just with other members out having fun, there is sense of calmness that no matter what is going on or what stresses of life there may be, I know that I don't have to fear or worry at all.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example to the best of my ability. I'm not very loud about my religion, but I have no problems telling people what I believe or what I practice. Usually, people can tell from what I do or don't drink and what kind of life I choose to lead, that I'm Mormon. I love to help people anyway I can and be of service to them. I think that seeing the joy they get from those small and simple gifts is one of the best feelings of happiness that this life has to offer. I also live my faith day by day, reaching the small goals on the way to the larger ones. I don't have a fear of tomorrow or the things to come. I feel like putting all of my effort in being the best example I can be right now, as if someone is always watching, is a good way to live a righteous life.
