Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a poet, a lover of life, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a very curious person. I love to try new things, because I want to be able to say I've done them, but also because I want to know what it feels like or what it tastes like or what it looks like. I love to learn, whether that means learning the hard way that I shouldn't try to twist my body that way or finding that something, like snail, is delicious! I collect knowledge like others collect stamps or coins and I am happiest when I'm out doing something I've never done before or learning how to do something better. To put it simply, I'm a lover of life and living that life to the fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know in my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and living church of God. I was raised in the church and baptized when I was eight, but it wasn't until my late teens that I gained my own testimony of the church; it came by realizing that even though growing up was not easy and was full of many hardships and trials, my Heavenly Father was always beside me, guiding me with His love. I don't know where I would be or who I would be without the gospel in my life and the knowledge that I will live with my Heavenly Father again. I love that I can look into the future and know that I will be happy in all that I do because I have that truth written upon my heart.

How I live my faith

I do my best to love everyone I meet and to emulate Christ in all facets of my life. I'm nowhere near perfect and, like everyone else, I'm a work in progress. But I know that I am blessed as I work to be a better person everyday. I know my Heavenly Father has a plan for me, and though it's hard to drop my plans to follow His, as I follow Him and keep His commandments I am filled with joy because I know that I am on the path to eternal life with my loving Heavenly Father and my family.

What is faith?

Melissa
Faith is hope. It is the hope that one day we won't have any worries, any trials, any sorrows. It is the hope that there is more to this life than what we can see right in front of us. It is the hope that in the end, everything is going to be okay. And faith is knowing that these hopes are real. It's knowing that our Father in Heaven has created a perfect plan for us to return to live with him, in providing us with prophets, commandments, and most importantly, with His Son. Our time here is temporal, but faith is knowing that eternity will come and with it eternal happiness and eternal peace. Show more Show less
