Hi I'm Carli

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from Brigham Young University after studying English and minoring in Music. I play the oboe, piano, and organ--music is a big part of who I am. I'm a stay-at-home with four boys ranging in ages from 15 to 9 years old. I teach piano on the side and have written a couple of young adult fiction books I'm trying to get published. I love gardening, reading books, dancing (Zumba is my passion right now, but anything that gets my feet moving), and traveling with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an L.D.S. family and was taught good principles and values by righteous parents. I always felt like the things I was being taught at home and church felt right and good, but it wasn't until I was in 9th grade, starting seminary, when I felt that my testimony was my own. Our seminary teacher challenged us to read the Book of Mormon ten minutes a day. The reward was that we would have the opportunity to see President Benson, our prophet at that time, speak at a conference center filled with youth in Los Angeles, California. If we missed a day, we could still attend the conference if we finished the Book of Mormon by December. Not wanting to miss this great opportunity, I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover in a matter of a couple of weeks. As I read the closing chapter in Mormon, the Holy Ghost touched my heart and confirmed to me that the Book of Mormon is a true book, written by ancient prophets in America, and that the words written are words meant for us today. The Book of Mormon is the keystone to our religion--I know that with all my heart. Since I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as restored today, is true. I'm grateful for my testimony and grateful for the gospel restored by Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

We just moved to St. Marys, Georgia from Happy Valley, Oregon, where I served as the 12 to 13 year old Sunday School teacher. I love being with the youth, maybe because my own sons are around the same age. They teach me so much! When we moved into our new ward, the Kingsland Ward, I was excited when I was called to be the Cub Master for the Cub Scouts. Since the boys haven't had any leadership for almost six months, it has been challenging, but fun, to try to set things up again. We have had two den meetings and next week will be our first pack meeting. I have some incredible leaders to work with, as well, and I look forward to planning tons of activities and field trips. I love serving in the church!
