Hi I'm Von Farnsworth

I've lived in the U.S., Bolivia and Japan. Worked in Aerospace and the US Army/Air Force over 30 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My eternal compaion, Sandy (wife of 35 years) and I have 6 wonderful kids and 5 cute and talented grand kids. Our family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ are the center of our lives. We have been richly blessed with many choice friends from our experiences living in Northern Utah, Virginia and Ohio. I cherrish growing up in Vernal Utah, Madison Wisconsin, Logan/River Heights/Providence (Cache Valley) Utah, LaPaz Bolivia and Japan (Kyushu, Honshu and Okinawa). I've grown to love and appreciate the people we've met in Asia, Central, South America and Europe. We enjoy most outdoor activities including golfing, boating, water/snow skiing, fishing, horse back riding. Our two youngest daughters played varisty high school golf, excelled in school and really enjoyed many social activities. The gospel of Jesus Christ has provides us core values and a sacred reverence for the Savior's Atonement, Resurection and the ultimate opportunity to be an eternal family. The covenants made with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father are the very fiber of our daily lives bringing us peace, direction and hope in a very challenging world. We enjoy friendships with people of other faiths and enjoy working together to establish and protect strong core religious values in our society. Having grown up in overseas and benefiting from righteous honorable parents, I'm mindful of those around the word that face severe challenges to life itself and recognize the needs we have to reach out around the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I have chosen to be a Mormon because it's helped my to learn more about my Savior Jesus Christ and His eternal plan of happiness. I've felt His spirit bring peace to my soul and comfort during trials and tribulations... as well as guidance on numerous occassions to serve Him and those whom I have the opportunity to serve. I'm grateful for faithful honorable parents that have taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ from my youth with full expectations that our entire family can and will be an eternal family together, if we are faithful disciples of Jesus Christ to the end. I've studied, pondered and prayed to gain my own witness of the divinity of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, the Holy Ghost has provided that sacred witness and provided me insight and knowledge that has guided my life for over 50 years. I've also had the opportunity on numberous occassions to witness the presence of God/His Spirit in the lives of those I've been fortunate to serve. I'm also grateful for the plain and simple logical truths of the Gospel. As my family and I have applied the principles of the Gospel in our lives, we've seen increased peace, joy and happiness. Our lives would be in dispair without the the perspective of the Gospel. We've learned through the Book of Mormon that if we hold to the iron rod, which is the word of God, we can have ultimate joy. Every witness that I've experienced has convinced me this is true. Yes, I've grown to understand and appreciate the blessings that come from living the gospel each day... and pray that I will do nothing to alter the influence of the Spirit to help guide me to be a righteous husband, father, grandfather... and servant of my God and His Son, Jesus Christ. I pray that the Lord will find my family and I acceptable to be in His presence when this life's journey is complete and we're called home.

How I live my faith

My family and I strive to live the gospel one day at a time, in our home and in our community. Family prayer and scripture study, as well as reading/listenting/watching inspirational talks and music bring a loving respectful spirit in our home each day. We also strive to do activities together as a family on a regular basis. I believe that through obedience to the covenants I've made, I can grow closer to our Savior Jesus Christ and have his guidance and promptings of the Holy Ghost in greater abundance helping me to serve better inside our home and our community. I've certainly also felt the influence of the Spirirt guide me throughout my professional carrer as a military commander, Joint Staff officer and leader in industry. I've also been involved over the years in Scouting, serving as a BSA Scout Master several times; helping my sons and over two dozen other young men earn their Eagle Scout achievements. For the past eight years, I've been blessed with several opportunities to serve single and married university students and most recently as a Bishop at a married university student congregation. My family and I have been blessed to serve with such valiant hard working young families and see their faith as they experience live's joys as well as heart aches. As a Bishop, I've witnessed our Heavenly Father's love for each individual and seen the power of our Savior's Atonement lift the burden of guilt and sin through sincere repentence. Indeed, I and my family have been blessed beyond measure and I'm eternally grateful.
