Hi I'm Josh Yamada

I was born in Tokyo, grew up in Canada, and live in New York City. I am an oncologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are raising five children. I am a physician and treat people with cancer. I don't have much spare time, but I enjoy being with my family, and serving in the church. We like to ski, golf, and scuba dive.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I believe that living a life that conforms to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the way to achieve happiness for my family and I. I have come to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints has the complete package--living prophets, the authority to act in God's name, and modern and ancient scripture. I believe in life after death, and that this time on earth is a time to learn and to grow, and that true happiness comes from learning to truly love God, others and self.

How I live my faith

There is a simple children's song titled "I'm trying to be like Jesus" which expresses how I try to live my faith, although of course it is a constant effort to try and improve each day. The words to the song are these: I’m trying to be like Jesus; I’m following in his ways. I’m trying to love as he did, in all that I do and say. At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice, But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers, [Chorus] “Love one another as Jesus loves you. Try to show kindness in all that you do. Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought, For these are the things Jesus taught.”
