Hi I'm Ryan

I am from Arizona. I am a software engineer, a graduate student, a musician, a gamer, a husband, a father, and a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Los Angeles, but have lived in the Phoenix area since I was four years old. I have been interested in technology since I was young, so I ended up studying computer science in school. I now work as a software engineer developing avionics software for a large engineering firm. I met and married Nissa, the love of my life while in school, and we now have a beautiful one-year-old daughter, Fionalee, and plan to have more. I love music and have played the guitar on and off since high school. I collect guitar pedals, although I haven't added many new ones to my collection since I got married. I also enjoy playing video games and board games when I have spare time.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church, but I had a variety of trying experiences in my youth that called my faith into question. As I tried to understand my parents' faith, I was rewarded with spiritual experiences and an abiding knowledge that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that He lives, and that I am part of His church. I still face trials, but it is easy for me to face them down when I know where I fit in Heavenly Father''s plan. The Gospel helps me understand my role as a husband and father, gives me perspective in difficult times, and gives my life meaning and purpose.

How I live my faith

As the leader of my family, I strive to keep our home a holy place where the Spirit can be present. Nissa and I pray often together, study the scriptures, regularly attend and serve in the Church, and keep the commandments, both to invite the Spirit into our home and to set an example for Fionalee and our other future children. They are everything to us, and we will make our home a place where they can both learn the principles of the Gospel, of Heavenly Father's love for them, and how to live a good life; but at the same time, we want them to understand that they must choose their faith for themselves, like we did. Serving in the Church is also very important to me. I work in the clerk's office of my ward, keeping the records of our congregation accurate and up-to-date. I love having an active, detail-oriented role in the day-to-day business of the ward, and I find a lot of fulfillment in my calling as a clerk.
