Hi I'm Tyler

I am from Oregon. I like wakeboarding, flying airplanes and being outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Tyler, I was born and raised in Oregon where I quickly learned to love the great outdoors. I love wakeboarding, flying airplanes and anything else that gets me outside. On the flip side I am a total nerd. I like math and science and I am studying to become a mechanical engineer. All in all, I just love life. It's awesome!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe this church is God's church. I believe that, just as Christ set up His church when He was on the earth, gave priesthood authority to His Apostles, and commissioned them to go share the gospel with everyone, He has restored His church again today. The reason I believe this is because of the Spirit of the Lord. He has touched my heart as I have studied, pondered and lived the restored gospel. I have felt His presence continually in my life as I tried my best to follow His guidance. There are so many evidences to me that this is God's restored church on the earth. But one evidence sticks out above the rest. As I have read, pondered and lived the principles in The Book of Mormon I have come to know my Savior, Jesus Christ, personally. I know that it is the word of God by the power of the Holy Ghost, and, knowing that, it follows that Joseph Smith was a prophet, he did indeed see God the Father and Jesus Christ,

How I live my faith

The things I believe have shaped the way I live and brought so much joy into my heart. I actively try to share the gospel because I want people around me to have that same joy in their lives. As I witness the Atonement of Christ cleaning and healing me as well as those around me I feel closer to God.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Tyler
The purpose of baptism is to make a promise, or a covenant, with God that we are willing to take Christ name upon us, always remember Him, and keep His commandments. Honestly, any one of us could make that promise in our hearts and truly mean it at any time-and many of us do. However, when baptism is done by the priesthood authority of God He promises something in return-a cleansing of your sins and the gift of His Spirit. What a wonderful promise! I am so grateful for the restoration of His priesthood and I experience the blessings of that restoration every day of my life. That's why Christ traveled 200 miles to be baptized by John, who had authority! To receive a promise and blessings from God, His Father. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Tyler
For me, the principle behind it is that God is the same yesterday today and forever. So, if He called twelve Apostles then to baptize, lead and guide His people, why wouldn't He call them now? I believe that He has. And I believe that through them He has restored the priesthood authority that He gave to His original twelve Apostles so that we can receive blessings-like baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost-through His priesthood and His ordinances today.
