Hi I'm Chris

I'm from Virginia. I'm a music buff and a movie guru. I like to pop my own homemade popcorn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from college a couple of years ago and I'm currently looking to get my real career going. It's been a long search and I haven't found exactly what I want yet, but I have faith that the Lord will lead me to the work He wants me to accomplish in my life. I really love music and have an extensive collection. I also play the guitar and sing. I love good conversations about the things I love and I could go on and on about the books, movies, music, podcasts, Lord of the Rings, the nature of space/time, life, the universe and every other geeky thing that makes life fun.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was only 2, so I've grown up with the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout most of my life. It has been an incredible blessing to me and my family to be members of the "only true and living church" on earth today. In spite of some hardships and setbacks, the gospel has kept us strong and happy and has given us the knowledge that we can be together forever after this life. Even though I've always had the belief that this church is true, my testimony hasn't always been as strong as it is today. Eventually the day came where I couldn't rely on my parents beliefs anymore and I had to find out the truth for myself. Getting my answer wasn't easy, and it didn't come to me all at once. My faith really started to grow once I made the decision to truly give my life over to Christ and to live his teachings. This means I really do my best to follow all the commandments, keep God as the number one priority in my life and seek out opportunities to serve and bless the lives of everyone I meet. Even though it has taken years of study, prayer and a bunch of trial and error, I know in my heart that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I know now, without a doubt, that God lives and is our loving Father in Heaven. I know that his son Jesus Christ lives and that through his atonement we can become better people and that if we overcome the trials of this life we can live forever with them in joy and peace.

How I live my faith

Living a gospel centered life means putting the things of the Lord first in everything I do. I start every day with a prayer and a short study of the scriptures. I go to church every Sunday, I fast once a month, I pay my tithing to the Lord and I visit the temple in Washington D.C. as often as I can. I do my best to be a kind and loving friend to my friends, family and coworkers and I try to follow all of the commandments as much as possible. The church also provides many opportunities to serve. I help teach a class about once or twice a month at church. I also go out with other members of the church to find the "lost sheep" who once had been regular members but for whatever reason have lost their way and stopped coming to church. We try to find them, see if they need our help in any way, and ask them to again "come unto Christ" and return to the fold. I also get the chance once a month to visit certain members of the congregation, see how they are doing, share a message and my testimony. Doing all of these things has helped bring me closer to God. I feel the love and peace of His spirit in my heart the most when I'm serving His children.
