Hi I'm Boyd

I'm from Provo. I like learning about just about anything, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the middle of three kids. My Mom teaches English, and my Dad automates legal documents (don't worry if you don't know what that is, neither do I). I went to Meridian School starting in 5th grade, and graduated there in 2010. I played on the basketball team, was in plays and musicals, Represented the school in math competitions, and a ton of other stuff I cant even remember, which all sounds really impressive until you hear that my graduating class was 18 people, and realize that all of them did all the exact same stuff (and usually more), because there wasn't enough people at the school for the drama troupe and basketball team to actually be comprised of different people. My hobbies in no particular order are: math, basketball, singing, talking about abstruse philosophical points, video games (rpgs and rts for those who care), watching movies, reading, and learning from people that know a ton about a particular subject (dont really care what). After High School I did a year of school at Grinnell College, a small school in Iowa that is in a small town in Iowa by the same name. I will probably study Math or Physics, but am not 100% sure.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for many reason's, but the easiest way to put it is because of the Book of Mormon, specifically the book of Alma chapter 32 verses 21,26-28. It talks about how faith is not a perfect knowledge, but how if we act in faith and are willing to "experiment" upon the word of God we will begin to see fruit from it, and we can tell from the fruit if the word is good or evil (Christ talked about very similar ideas throughout his ministry as well). I decided to try the experiment and the results spoke for themselves. As I have continued to study and learn I have found ideas and answers that for lack of a better term are delicious. They fill and expand my soul and its capacity to love--and that is good fruit.

How I live my faith

I strive to live the 13th article of faith which reads : "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." I frequently fall short of that, but I try. I also try to remember and live by the teaching of Paul that without charity (namely love, patience, and understanding for others) we are nothing.
