Hi I'm Garrett Tingle

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Sports is one of my biggest hobbies. Football is my favorite. I like to watch it and play it. I'm a huge LSU fan! I like dating and hanging out with my friends and family. My family is very important to me. I'm currently serving a 2 year mission for the church. I plan on going to college after (not sure where at yet). My future career plan is to work for the feds, the DEA or FBI.

Why I am a Mormon

Once I actually took the time and put forth the effort to find out wether The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the Lord's kingdom restored here on the earth is when I got my answer. I thought to myself, what would it mean to me if Joseph Smith truly a prophet of God, if the Book of Mormon was true, and if the LDS church was the Lord's church. I was willing to act upon my answer. I started to read the Book of Mormon, pray, attend church, and striving to live the gospel. I later recieved an answer through a girl's testimony. She said she had been waiting on a miracle to prove to her it was all true. Then she started to reflect back on her life and realized that when she was striving to live the gospel, she had true happiness and peace in her life. When she wasn't striving to live the gospel, she wasn't truly happy and didn't have that peace. She then testified that it was all true. I felt the spirit very strongly, had a huge feeling of peace come over me, and had a desire to serve a mission. I knew that that was my answer and I didn't need a huge miracle to prove to me it was true. I have really noticed a huge difference in my life from when i'm striving to live the gopel vs. when i'm not.

How I live my faith

I strive to follow the example that Jesus Christ set for everyone. Although I still make plenty of mistakes, I try to improve myself everyday. I try to help anyone I come in contact with.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Garrett Tingle
Baptism is an ordinance that we need to enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Since some people never even herd of Jesus Christ, like people in communist countries and etc... It wouldn't be very just for those people not to be saved just because they never had the oppurtunity in this life. We know that after this life, we go to the spirit world, a place where our spirits go after death until the ressurection. Every soul will have the oppurtunity to learn about the gospel in the spirit world. They then can choose to accept or reject the ordinances that are done in proxy, in their behalf, inside the temple.
