Hi I'm John Scoggin Jr.

I grew up in the Deserts of Arizona. I love football and computers. I am a Mormon.

About Me

The things that I like to do is play football, fix computers and just hang out in the wilderness. I love nature some of my favorite memories are of the many times that I went camping with friends as a youth. In the small town of Woodruff (were I spent the better part of my childhood) there was a lot of room to camp. We could hike for 13 miles in any direction and still not find any civilization. I was able to learn a lot from those experiences. As I grew I started to play football. I am not good in any sense of the word. I was so bad that they kept me as far away from the ball as possible. I was scrawny and lanky even so they made a lineman out of me. Through hard work and a lot of practice I became stronger. Being 6'1" and 180lbs I wasn't built for that so I started getting beat up. I then left the field and hit the weight room my senior year. From that I am now 6'2" and 215lbs. Too late now I am hoping to get into college ball. I also picked up another hobby my Junior year. I started taking apart computers and figuring out what goes were and reading and learning on how to do various things. I then got a job maintaining a network for a small business. I also started a very small business with my friend fixing computers. We found ourselves really busy really quick with more work than we knew what to do with.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised very well into the church. I grew by examples of my parents as well as my older brother and sister. I have lived the Gospel with my family through rough and good times. I have never felt that we went without. We had times were we had to shake down the couches to get coins to get a little bit of gas in the car. But we always had what we needed. Probably not what we wanted but we never went without. I know that in this Gospel and in this Church we can come closer to Heavenly Father. He is a God of sacrifice and he asks us to do those things so we can by and through our faith rely on Him. I have seen it over and over again. God is there, he provides a way, and he does speak to prophets. He always has and always will.

How I live my faith

I have been called on a mission and currently serving that mission in the various areas of the Utah Ogden Mission. Before I had my call my older sister asked me to reflect on why I wanted to serve a mission. Because up to that point I only wanted to do it because that was what was engrained into me ever since I was a kid. I started to reflect on why I was working two jobs around the clock and tearing up myself just to go two years following the strictest regime of my life. Just to come back in the back of the pack were my friends would be well on their way to graduate college. Then I thought of all the stupid stuff I had been doing since I left High School. I thought that if that was the direction I would be heading then I would want no part in it. I also thought of the Savior's sacrifice for us. It would mean little the amount I was asked to give compared to the Atonement of all sins. I knew that this little portion that I can give is a pathetic offering as a repayment for my cause of His pain. That is why I am here still. That is why I will pattern my life after what I have learned here.
