Hi I'm Amy Elizabeth Ranf

I'm a writer, I love to smile and make others smile and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small country town hidden away in the woods and was raised by my father with my older sister. We had a small but close family. I'm an English and Classics major at the University of Oregon and have always found literature to be my escape from the pain around me. I've always had a need to make sure that others know they are loved; I will always be there for you no matter who you are. I was a cheerleader for 3 years in high school, National Honor Society President and Class President. I enjoy being active and giving back to others in my community by volunteering in any way that I can. I work as an in-home care nurse and am loving being able to help those in need. I cherish my family and friends and know I am blessed to have each of them in my life. I love to write, it is how I define myself. Above all else and most importantly, I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints and it is the best decision I have ever made in this life.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with only personal knowledge of God and knew something was missing. I knew I was different from all of those around me and though I had a loving family, they were mocking and angry about my love for God. When I was nine my sister died from Cancer and it left me (along with other heartaches) feeling I was being punished since all I had heard of was a vengeful lord. I went through life trying to please him and his son to the best of my ability and never felt I was doing enough. My soul was a burden, bruised and bleeding. It was tired of the woman who carried it, but there was nowhere to set it down to rest. I had lost the light. Neither the sweet charm of the countryside nor the renewing properties of the rain could soothe it. I found no complete peace in song or laughter, none in the company of friends, none even in books or poetry… where could my heart find refuge from itself? Where could I go yet leave myself behind? I prayed for help and found it. When I was feeling down on myself Heavenly father led me to his church. I was given a challenge to read the Book of Mormon and pray about its truth. I received my answer and learned about love. I know this church is led by Jesus Christ and that he loves every one of us. My hope was restored- and that is why I am a Mormon, because I have seen the truth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the example set forth by Jesus Christ by helping all around me know love and know their worth not only to me and others, but to God. I also live my faith by keeping the promises I have made with God. I have promised him to do certain things while abstaining from others. Above all, I have promised to love and endure to the end. I know that I am not perfect but I strive to live, love, and lead like Jesus every single day of my life. Sometimes it is not easy, but it never will be. Yet, it is and always will be worth it.
