Hi I'm Kirk D. Begay

I grew up on the Navajo Reservation and the Big city of Farmington, NM. I have had many wonderful experiences. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love that I come from the Navajo Reservation (Dine) and the things that are associated with our tribe; arts, music, tradition, culture and food! You can't be Navajo and not enjoy the desert cuisine. I love sports, whether it's playing, watching or coaching (from the sidelines). I am a media consultant that works for a large publisher here in the US, a working college student, a husband of ten years and counting to eternity, a comedian to my four children (laughs are few and far between), a self proclaimed famous (in the Begay household) do it yourself home improvement guy.

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion came four years after our family learned about, and joined, the LDS church. There were many feelings before my conversion that made me believe what I learned from the missionaries was true, but the calumniation of all those feelings was expressed only after much trials and tribulation. I was 15 years old and sitting in a seminary class, we were studying the last week of Saviors life the New Testament, when for the first time in my life I felt an overwhelming love, appreciation, understanding and gratefulness of my Savior. This early experience has been the beginnings of many experiences and lessons learned to help me to understand that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that the restored gospel has been reveled to us in these latter days. I am glad that through prayer and having a relationship with our Father in Heaven has allowed me to go to them for answers. I have come to understand doctrine because of the reviled truths found in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants. I also learn through modern day apostles and prophets. One of the earliest lessons learned and experienced from the missionaries teachings that has made the most impact as to why I am today a Latter Day Saint, is that we each can return to our heavenly home as eternal families. Understanding that Heavenly Father made it possible for each of us to live again with our families was the most wonderful news that an eleven and a half year old understood, I felt above anything else in that moment pure truth, it penetrated my spirit and has since been a blessing to me. Of course I have had many other blessings and truths reviled to me but because of learning this restored truth I have been married in the temple and have had the privilege to raise four amazing kids. It is through these eternal truths that I know if I continue to follow the teachings of the gospel, that I may be with my wife and four wonderful children forever, receive guidance, council and receive blessings.

How I live my faith

I have the great opportunity to serve in the church. I am able to teach our youth about the doctrines of the gospel and help facilitate the learning of our adults. I am able to visit with members of the church and share messages about gospel principals. I also live me faith by the things that I do on a daily basis, I am not perfect, but by reading the scriptures, choosing the right things, being honest and faithful I know that I can be more like our Savior jesus Christ.
