Hi I'm Brooke

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and am now going to college down in Texas. I come from a wonderful family and have two sisters, I am the middle child. I enjoy being active and playing sports for fun. In high school I played rugby. I also have a love for music. I play the piano and the clarinet. I was in choir in high school and had the amazing opportunity to go sing in numerous places, some being the Vatican and Carnegie Hall.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and most of my family are active members. However, that is not why I continue to live the teachings of the church. I have studied the scriptures, pondered them and lived the teachings of the church to find out for myself that this is Gods true church on the earth. I have seen many blessings that have come from living the principles of the church; a big one being happiness. There is so much distress that can be avoided in this world by living the simple teachings of the gospel. Because I choose to follow the commandments, I find that there is real peace in my life. Because I have prayed about it, I know that when I do make mistakes the I can be forgiven and continue to move forward and do my best. I know that is only possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I am grateful that I know where I came from, why I am here and where I am going; that I have a purpose. And that the God who created all things knows who I am and loves me. It is comforting to know that whether I am in Canada or all the way in Texas that my Heavenly Father knows where I am and what is going on in my life and that He wants me to be happy. I know that there is a true prophet on the earth and that he receives revelation from God for the church today. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that the book of mormon is the word of God. I am grateful for temples and for the knowledge that we can be together with our families forever.

How I live my faith

Where I live in Canada there are quite a few members of the church. In my city, there are several buildings where members gather together on sundays. Here is Texas there are not quite as many. There is a branch consisting of around 50 active members. Even though both places are several miles apart, the church is the exact same everywhere you go. In the branch I serve as a song director for children ages 3-12. I love music and it is a blessing to teach the children through song and to see them learn. I live my faith by following the teachings of Christ and following the commandments. I try to be the best person I can be and to help others when I see the need.
