Hi I'm Jillyan McCammon

I grew up in a military family. I love soccer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in sunny Southern California. My dad is in the military so we always have lived close to a military base. I have been thankful that I have only moved three times in my life, which is not a lot for a military family. I had an amazing childhood with a loving family and support system. Growing up I fell in love with soccer and played all throughout high school. I am currently finishing up my third year of college as an environmental biology major. I love turtles, the ocean, and anything to do with the beach and cannot wait to work at an aquarium or the beach one day. I have one year left of college but instead have decided to dedicate my life to my Father in Heaven to serve an 18 month mission. I love life and everything about it. It hasn't always been easy but I have learned to push through the hard times with the love of my family and my Savior Jesus Christ. I love doing spontaneous things and finding the beauty of life in a world that is constantly blocking that beauty.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have found the truthfulness of this church for myself. There have been numerous trials in my life that could have easily sent me on another life course but by finding the gospel to be such an important part of my life I was able to get through these trials. At two separate times in my life both of my parents got sick. My sister and I were terrified that we would end of with only one parent or maybe even loose them both. I can honestly tell you that I would not have been able to get through those difficult times with out my faith. There were even times in my life that I didn't want to be Mormon but I couldn't be farther from that kind of thinking today. I love this Gospel with all my heart. I continue to be Mormon because I know that this is where I am supposed to be.

How I live my faith

Growing up I heavily relied on my mom's faith. She was raised in the church and so was I. It wasn't until I moved to college away from everything I grew up knowing that I truly starting living my own faith. I make an effort everyday to see the good in the world; whether that's giving service to a random stranger or simply writing all the things I am blessed with that day. I am a teacher to those in my singles ward and am in charge of helping all the women in my ward with anything they may need. Charity is a word that I have recently come to love. It means the pure love of God and my faith has helped me to look at others with the love that God has for them.
