Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a student. I like trying new things. I love travel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and am currently attending college as a full-time student. I'm majoring in English. I work as a writing tutor and really enjoy the challenge of teaching writing and grammar so my students understand. I've also worked on a student journal on campus that publishes student articles about issues having to do with the family. I like to write, mostly for myself, but sometimes I send stuff in to competitions or to get published. I enjoy hiking because of the fantastic views. I love travelling and talking with people from different backgrounds because it's eye-opening and just plain neat to hear peoples' stories.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a faithful member of this church because its teachings give me joy and bring peace into my life. Furthermore, this church teaches me how to cultivate my own relationship with the Savior. It is truly amazing how personally the teachings of Jesus Christ apply to us. This church is also under the direction of the same Priesthood that Jesus conferred upon Peter in the New Testament. We operate under the same organization and benefit from revelation from God to our priesthood leaders (the Apostles and the First Presidency) to guide church-wide matters. We also have local leaders that have the authority from God to direct His church at the local level. I also know that individuals can receive revelation for themselves. I have prayed, asking if this really is God's church. And I received the answer, as peace to my heart, that it is.

How I live my faith

I attend church with young single adults, and I help plan and carry out fun activities every week for the group I'm assigned to. When I visit my parents, on Sundays sometimes I help out with the 18 months to 6 year olds.
