Hi I'm Braden

I am serving a two year mission in Calgary, Canada. I love the gospel and want everyone to experience it. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into the church and into a very faithful family. I have two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. My sister was married in the temple and now has three beautiful kids. My brother is about to start high school. I have spent most of my life in a small town north of Houston, Texas and have loved every second of it. I just finished my first semester at Brigham Young University in the Microbiology program. I love studying science because it answers the how things happen in the universe, just like the gospel answers the why things happen. I'm planning on using my studies to go to medical school to become a trauma surgeon. But right now, I am preparing to go to Calgary, Canada to serve a mission for two years. I am nervous but excited to serve the Lord. I know that missionary work is more than just getting baptisms, it is about bringing people back to our Heavenly Father. I know that He will help me do His will. I love my family but I am willing to make the sacrifice of leaving them because I know that it is what is best for me, best for the church and best for the people of Calgary.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon is fairly simple, I was born into the church. At eight years old I was baptized, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I felt the spirit so strongly and I never wanted it to go away. Ever since then I continued to grow my testimony. When I turned twelve I received the Aaronic Priesthood and joined the Boy Scouts. Together they helped me grow closer to my Heavenly Father. When I turned 18 I got my Patriarchal Blessing, received the Melchizedek, and was ordained an Elder. I wish that I had some grand conversion story, but I have simply built up my faith over time. Going to church, EFY, scout camp, and youth conference have all built my testimony piece by piece. In fact, I have reached a point where I can't imagine a life without the gospel. It just makes sense to me, but I recognize that I still have a lot more to learn and grow. I know that I am a child of God. I know that this church is true and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. I know that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that through him we can be saved. I can’t emphasize how true these things are. It saddens me to know that there are some out there that don’t know these things. I want to help them but I know I can’t do it alone. All the members of the church were saved for the last days because we are strong and only we can help bring all of mankind unto Christ. That's why I'm going on a mission. That's why I'm a Mormom

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping others. During the summer after school, I taught the 6 and 7 year old kids at church on Sunday. I love teaching them gospel principles and watching them learn. Just as important, they teach me. I have learned so much from the examples they give from their simple lives. They truly have strengthened my testimony. Now I am going on a mission for two years and will spend nearly all my time serving others, either through service or by bringing them the gospel of Christ. One of my favorite things is to do service for others. Whenever an opportunity presents itself I always try to be one of the first ones to help. This helps me grow closer to Christ because, as it says in the Bible, "charity is the pure love of Christ". Simply volunteering is kinda like a spiritual recharge for me. I always feel the spirit strengthen my testimony when I help others. And seeing the look of gratitude on the faces of those I serve is extremely rewarding for me. While in Calgary I will be teaching the gospel and helping others find their way back to our Heavenly Father. In my opinion, this is the best service that anyone can provide for their fellow man, because the benefits are eternal. I can't wait to go out there and do the lords work for him. If it feels so good helping others achieve temporal benefits, I excited to see what it feels like help people achieve eternal benefits.
