Hi I'm Becky

I'm an adoptive mother of 5 AMAZING kids! I love concerts and traveling, ADORE my family, and CHOOSE to be happy! I'm a MORMON!

About Me

My husband and I were married for 8 1/2 years before we were blessed to become parents. Now we have five beautiful, adopted children, which we feel, the Lord hand placed in our home. I am a stay at home mom, which is sometimes very challenging, but I LOVE it and wouldn't trade the opportunity to be with my children for the world. In my "spare" time, I'm pursuing my Bachelor's degree full-time online. I enjoy traveling, attending concerts and live theater. The majority of our days are spent "being a family"! We work hard and we play hard! We love road trips, Marvel movies, and time by the pool!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Mormon church just a few years before I was born. That was over 40 years ago, and they enthusiastically admit it was the best decision they've ever made! I chose to be baptized when I was eight and still remember the feeling of peace and joy as I came out of the water. Being raised in the church, some might assume I would inevitably continue in the faith. However, as I grew older (throughout my teen years) the temptation to be and do things inconsistent with the Mormon standards became increasingly more attractive. Often my attention was drawn to activities leading me away from my faith. Those distractions left me feeling dark and empty, a feeling (up until then) completely foreign to me. The contrast from light to dark started becoming very clear. I believe everyone (whether born into the church or investigating the teachings) must intentionally seek to know for themselves if it is true. Slowly I determined I would "test" the Lord, as I exercised faith in my knowledge of what was right. I committed to be obedient to the commandments, and to study the teaching of my Savior, Jesus Christ. As I did, light again filled my life. The Lord is quick to forgive us, and eager to fill our lives with joy. Each day I thank my Father in Heaven for the blessings of his plan for us. My husband and I try our best to teach our children, through example, how to make choices leading to happiness and eternal joy. I am thankful for the Book of Mormon and the relevance it has in our time, teaching us to recognize truth, and share the gospel with others. I am so thankful for Joseph Smith, I know he saw God the Eternal Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I am thankful for a prophet who receives revelation on our behalf, and I love and sustain him. I know we have a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers our prayers. I know our Savior atoned for our sins so we might be able to repent and return to live with Him again. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

One of the greatest blessings of the gospel is the opportunity we have to grow individually as we serve and teach others. Within our congregations we do not have paid clergy or teachers. Each member of the church is asked to give of their time and talents. Over my lifetime my faith has been significantly strengthened as I've tried to understand how the Lord would have me fulfill each of the positions I've accepted. Most of our married life my husband and I have spent within the youth organizations of the church. Assisting in planning and carrying out faith promoting, fellowshipping, and service activities. I've had the privilege of teaching Sunday School to adults as well as teens. I currently team-teach a class of six year olds each Sunday, and love it! I'm always astounded at the blessings which pour into my own life through the knowledge and faith of those with whom I associate. Although I may be the "teacher" I am always the one learning the most! My faith guides every choice I make, and everything I do. Being a Mormon is not just a Sunday "thing". It is ALL of a who I am. I know I am a daughter of God, who created me in His image. I know He has given me the opportunity to come to earth to be tested. If I prove worthy I will one day be able to return to live with Him again. However, He didn't send us to earth alone. We have the perfect example of His son, Jesus Christ, and His atonement providing us with the opportunity to repent of our sins. We have the blessing of the Holy Ghost to guide and direct us, and the lifeline of prayer, allowing us to communicate with our Father. Finally, through the ordinances performed in the Holy Temple, we are able to be sealed to our families for Time and All Eternity.
