Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Missouri, I love science and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently a sophomore in college. I am studying Medical Laboratory Science. I have always had a passion for science and I knew that I wanted to be able to help people out. I love serving others especially when I know that I am helping make a difference in their lives. I have recently been called to serve in the Alaska Anchorage Mission! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to serve the Lord and to help people come closer to Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know it's true. I love the peaceful happy feelings I receive when I am sitting at church or when I am reading my scriptures. As a child I always just went to church because I knew that my parents expected me to. I think the biggest turning point for me was when I went away to college. I found out that all along I had really been going to church because I wanted to and not just because my parents told me to. I am at the point in life where I can make my own decisions and I don't have my parents always telling me what to do. Even though college is hard and stressful I found that if I make time to go to church, read my scriptures and say my prayers things in life go so much better. The more I attend church the happier I become. I love this gospel so much because it brings such joy and happiness to my life!

How I live my faith

I think the biggest way I live my faith is by example. One quote that I always keep in the back of my mind is "you never know who is watching you." I always try and live my life so that no matter who I am around or what I am doing I am always living the gospel.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

To me a testimony is when I share with others my beliefs that I know to be true. A testimony includes sharing that I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He came to earth to preform the atonement and be crucified so that He could be resurrected in turn allowing every person the same gift of resurrection. My testimony also includes my belief that Joseph Smith is a true prophet that was called of God. He was able to obtain the gold plates and translate them into the Book of Mormon. I also know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet called of God to lead and direct us today. Every part of my testimony has been confirmed to me by the still small voice of the Holy Ghost. He manifests the truth of all things unto those who have a desire to know the truth. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The absolute best way to know with out a doubt is to study the doctrine. And after you have diligently studied the doctrines, kneel down in prayer and ask our Father in Heaven with a sincere desire to know whether or not it is true. I can testify that if you will have the faith to ask our Heavenly Father, He will reveal to you the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have tried it for myself and I can testify to you that asking in prayer really works! I have felt the powerful influence of the Holy Ghost testify to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true! Show more Show less
