Hi I'm Alec Deru

I'm a metal head! A welding geek, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love to Weld and build things out of metal, I worked as a TIG welder welding aluminum paramotors. I also designed and built log skidders for a good friend of mine. I studied welding at a tech college for close to two years and I plan on continuing my study of welding when I return home from my mission. I also love to sail, longboard, snowboard, being outdoors, dirt biking, working at scout camps and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon I belived that it was true but I never took is to serious for most of my life and did not live up to the standards I should have while I was a teenager. Over the 2011 spring break I had an experince that changed my life forever. I should have been lost at sea while coming home from a sailing trip on a really stormy day, but I had a prompting to say a prayer to God for protection and to get me back to my family safe. After I said this prayer I had a wonderful feeling of peace and I knew that I was going to see my family agian. After some time we arrived back safe. I know that God saved my life that day. Since then I have tried hard to live my life the way God wants me to and I have a much stronger belief in God and this church. I have seen the amazing blessings now that I have been living the way I should and I know with all my heart that this is Gods true church and that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that we do have a prophet today.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission for the Church in New Jersey. But befor I left for my mission I was involved as a friend and a leader for the youth of my ward. I taught them things with the scouting program and I also taught them sunday school classes.
