Hi I'm Melissa Ratcliffe

I grew up in Roy, Utah. I volunteer with Special Olympics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student at Weber State University, I have an Associate's degree in General Studies and am working towards a Bachelor's in Athletic Therapy. I hope to become a Physical therapist later in my life. For the next couple years, I will be taking a break from school to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I want to be able to share the happiness this Gospel brings to me with many, many more people. While at Weber State, I've had the opportunity to volunteer with Special Olympics Utah, I love working with people with disabilities, they are some of the most loving people I've ever met! I also love to run, last year I ran two half marathons and one full marathon. Last of all, and most important, I love spending time with my family, they are my best friends. They love me no matter what, and I will always love them too.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know that it is the one true way to gain Eternal Happiness. I know that this is the same Gospel that Jesus Christ established during his mortal ministry here on Earth. I know that we have living prophets today that converse with God. I know that families can be together FOREVER through temple marriage. I know that we can be forgiven, comforted, lifted up, and redeemed through the atonement of Jesus Christ. How do I know all of this? It has been along journey, which I am still traveling on. I grew up in the LDS faith, my parents taught me how to live, and what they knew to be true. But I couldn't rely on their testimonies my whole life. When I was a teenager, I had a year period where I strayed from the path my parents had started me off on. I found nothing but hurt, regret, and anger down that road. Through the atonement, I was able to find forgiveness. This experience strengthened my trust and love for my Savior Jesus Christ and for my Heavenly Father. I began to pray for a confirmation of the truthfulness of this Gospel. It took much time and studying, but little by little, I began to know for myself that this is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ! I know that if we turn to God, He will love us unconditionally. I wants us to return to Him, and I know that through Christ, that is entirely possible! This is a Gospel of happiness and hope, the peace it brings testifies to me, this is where I need to be, this is what I need to share, this is what I need to Live!!

How I live my faith

The church as established congregations of people ages 18-31 called Young Single Adult Wards, I attend and worship in this Ward. I am chair of the Music Council, I arrange for music to be provided during our worship service. I also am on the Activities Council, we plan and carry out activities for the members of our ward to attend on a weekly basis. This helps to unify us and provide a "family" sort of experience for those living away from home. I attend the Ogden LDS Institute of Religion where I participate in the choir programs available there. I also attend religious classes that help deepen my understanding of this Gospel and help to maintain my spiritual well being. Basically, I try to be a good person daily, be a friend to the lonely, and a strength to the weak. For I know that is what Christ did when he was here, and I want to be just like Him!
