Hi I'm Gil

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Boston, MA. Moved to FL in 04. I Just got Baptized on 4/14/12 and Loving It!!

About Me

I am a 38 year old male that has recently been converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I work at a printing company and I am a supervisor of our distribution center. I am a father of 2 children. I have a student that just graduated from film school this year and a daughter that is in her freshman year of college. Some of the things that I enjoy doing are playing sports, working on my automobile, biking, pretty much the outdoors type. I enjoy cooking working on the yard and my garden, but most of all I enjoy spending quality time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the church to be true. I grew up in the Catholic church and never felt quite right when I attended Mass or some of the teachings. As a kid I always saw my mom praying to saints and having candles lit throughout the house all the time. After reading the Bible, I felt as if that wasn't what was right. When my mom passed, I kind of gave up on the church for a while until I met my wife. So I gave it another go and still couldn't quite find what I was looking for at her church either. So I gave up on the churches in all and decided that church wasn't for me and I would try the faith thing on my own and see where that would lead me. So I did the solo thing for about 15 years, And I thought I was doing well, but that's when I was visited by the Missionaries. I didn't want to be rude so as they came to my door I invited them into my home. As they spoke I couldn't help but thinking to myself (what do these kids know about God and the church)... Boy was I in for a rude awakening! As they spoke more and more I couldn't believe the knowledge that these young men were teaching me. So of course I wanted to here more and learn more. As our lessons continued, so did my knowledge and understanding of how the true church was restored through the profit Joseph Smith and how it continues today through President Thomas S. Monson. I am so thankful and blessed that the missionaries came to my door that evening. I am a true believer and I am proud to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

As part of my duties with the church. I have been given a calling of the ward secretary. This is my first calling and am looking forward to the duties it may entail. I have been working with such wonderful people that it doesn't even seem like a task has been assigned to me. That's how it's been from day 1 as a member. You're never alone in anything we do. Everyone is always offering their help and it's sincere. I feel blessed to be around such caring people constantly and I'm always looking forward to what the next day will bring. If this is any indication of what my callings with the church are going to be like, I can't wait until my next one!
